Birch Seed

Is it just me or are they super rare? I have received 1 birch seed out of 30-40 trees.

Did someone misplace a decimal point on the drop rate?

Kinda scared to cut down my oak trees if the seed drop is that rare. I want the oak tree seeds (without using a console command or mod.)

Haven't experienced being that rare I usually get a birch seed every 4 trees taken down

I cut down 100 birch tree's in medows = 0 seeds

I cut down 5 birch tree's in plains = 1 seed

Is that a pattern? Or bad luck?

Seeds can be pretty rare. If you need to do large-scale logging, do it a distance away from your house/base to preserve the scenery.

Are you trying to harvest from trees that you discovered pre-H&H? I'm not sure if that could affect the drop rate of birch seeds.

They are increasing the rates of Birch Seeds and Acorns in a patch, i think drops today.

I have also received just one birch seed so far or of signs of birch trees between the Meadows and Plains. I've gotten 2 oak seeds though out of three cut down in the Meadows.

really? good to know tks. Where did you read that?
Birch seeds are pretty common but acorns are very very rare drop, i got like 1 seed out of 25 oak trees

In my experience upgrading from bronze axe to iron axe substantially increased my seed/acorn drop rate

That could be the case because I get a seed like 1 in 3-4 trees for beech, pine, and fir.

I was wondering if skill helped by I have like 60 woodcutting skill.

Yep either tool tier or skill level, or both

I would imagine they are meant to be rare, since the fine wood is fairly uncommon outside of the plains, and if you could functionally just grow your own birch forests in the meadow without issue, you'd never need to go to the plains for wood.

You can find more than enough fine wood to build everything you need without ever even have to chop down trees in the plains.

I have gotten 2 birch seeds I've cut done 10-15 trees at this point. Beech seeds are nearly sustainable. Birch are not.

On my original character I maintained a beech tree farm that had long term sustainability

You can not do that with Birch sadly...

Just a thought but maybe the drop rate is not intended for you to make a tree farm, but to plant them decoratively around your home. I am pleased to just have a couple of acorns at all for that purpose. ?
