Vegetable gardens need a box for spreadable distancing.
To sum it up: Carrots and Turnips need hitboxes to be planted. When I first started the game this was the only feature I actually hated. Yes it's nice to plant them freely in the grow spots that you have but if you plant too close they can't grow and you waste a seed. We kinda need a box to help spread them out better instead of me having to place 1x1 stubs in a pattern to plant them efficiently.

Just my 2 cents and feel like this should've been addressed long ago during launch.

yes, they should collide and refuse to be planted when too close.

Well, the FarmGrid mod does exactly what you described.

Hit your walk button and switch to slow walk.
Walk a straight line while clicking, it won't take long to learn how close to get them and the slow walk lets you plant them fairly close. You can plant them too close if you just button mash but you just need a consistent click-click-click to plant them perfectly.

Also noticed camera angle plays a big part in planting as well. I found looking down and close to the player, without being blocked by player, the smoothest experience.

I know the distance I'm just tired of having to do it all the time. Kinda needs to be implemented.

If you want to solve this today you will need to use a mod
If you want to wait for a vanilla sollution i guess you need to wait a longer time, there are many more important things to do.

A shame. Was really hoping issues like the OP raised here were the things that H&H were going to focus on with farming being one of the notable tasks at home.

You don't need a box. I don't see what the problem is, evenly planted, believing your eyes.

I just plant them in rows by angling my camera down about 45 degrees and just moving forwards while mashing the button. They end up with about 1-foot spacing between them more or less, and I never have issues with needing more room to grow.

I wouldn't mind something like being able to make raised rows with the cultivator that somehow streamline and/or clean up the planting process, though.
