Find someone who has turnip seeds to give you? I've tried twice lately (before and after the update) and had no luck. From what I can tell, though, they don't seem very useful anyways. I many not have unlocked something on this playthrough yet, but turnip stew doesn't seem to stack up well against what you can now do with carrots and onions.

Turnips are generally better than carrots, and onions are better than turnips. I use plenty of turnips for black soup personally.

As far as finding them, I just got lucky in a swamp biome, but in hindsight they don't seem very common and I haven't seen a lot of them in the 3-4 swamps I've found so far.

They're somewhat hard to see because of their yellow-ish/green-ish color in the swamp. You may have just missed them, but you can also find them in the chests inside draugr huts.

Go in the daytime, stay out of the water, bring poison resist if you are not good at avoiding fights. Keep looking around even checking back every few days since they seem to spawn randomly like dandelions.

sometimes is just luck. I cleared 5 or 6 entire mountains to get onions at long last. The wild plants are a little more common but turnip is a bit rare and hard to spot compared to carrot... look at a pic online so you can spot them then keep your eyes peeled.

They blend in really well. They are there, you have to slow down and you'll find them

I forgot about black soup. By the time I got some turnip seeds and had enough to use, I had moved on to onions.

I haven't progressed far enough to unlock more recipes for onions than just onion soup, which, like carrot turnip soup is a stamina food, but the upside to black soup is that it's a health food. I would assume onions are used in a health food recipe at some point too, but black soup's ingredients are just so easy to get in large volumes. I know I'll phase out the turnips eventually, but they definitely have their use at this specific point in the game for both health-focused and stamina-focused recipes.

If you have the headlight wear it while you run around. Makes them a lot easier to spot.

I've never found them in swamps near the starting stones, and I've always found them in swamps far away. Since crypts are also uncommon near the start location, my basic strategy is to just go by boat as far as I can and scout swamps from the coast for crypts.

Bonemass has always been a long trip away too, so it has happened naturally that I tend to find turnip seeds in the same swamp as Bonemass, if I haven't found the seeds earlier.

Never seen an actual turnip in the wild. I thought you had to pick flowers and plant the seeds first.

Turn on your headlamp and turn graphics down to low in the swamp to make them more visible. I went through 3 small swamps without seeing one on this run through but there was one next to the first crypt I found. Thought it was a nice gift. They are rare.

I've always had lots of luck finding Turnip Seeds at night, usually under trees that lay sideways

You can't find turnips just turnips seeds. They are bright yellow flowers that are easy to see in the swamps. They glow a bit but not as bright as thistles. I've always had the best luck finding turnip seeds in the small strip swamps that lack crypts. I usually run through the strip swamps early to find turnip seeds and to farm dragur and leech drops.

turnip stew is awesome at the time you need it , it can help climb the mountain

I have seen/located exactly a single turnip and I'm on Day 1995....they are rare to find, unlike the onion seeds in the Mountain biome, which I found in like the 3rd chest I found...go figure?
