How to get Fine Wood?

I was surprised to not find any discussions already asking this but i am struggling to find fine wood if anyone can tell me where to locate it that would be great :)

Meadows, the white trees and the big fat oaks, you can't harvest them untill you can craft metal tools, you can bypass that though by luring a troll, those big blue giants in the black forest, they can smash trees, rocks, ores, just avoid getting hit

You don't even need trolls: just smash beech logs into birches and oaks.

It takes time, but eventually you will "cut down" the targeted tree. Repeat process for its logs (smashing birch/oak logs against each other makes it quicker).

I always acquire fine wood using this method long before I acquire bronze.

Yeah but these are more rarest than oaks

I dunno the drop rate but I now have one (1) birch seed. Do not know about oaks, I never kill them (mostly farm big groves of birch in plains, but that is endgame).
Anyway, the seeds drop now, at some rate.

But shipwrecks can be harvested with a stone/flint axe so ne need for a bronze axe

yeah shipwrecks are a nice random find. saves the trouble of forest bowling with trolls. but worst case you dance with trolls and get finewood and core wood that way to up your bow and portal game so getting metal becomes easier.

If'n ya want copper or fine/core wood on the first day, then hire a troll laborer. Takes some practice but they work wonders. Also good for clearing out swamp monsters.
