Day Night Cycle Tips?
I'm struggling with the day/night cycle in this game. It feels like the days are way too short. I go exploring and get so far from base before it gets dark and i need to run back to sleep and make it day again.

Any tips on how to explore in a better way? I mean the map is huge do i need to keep building new beds/bases to sleep in?

I see there is a teleport i can build can i place them anywhere i want to make fast travel points or do i need to find portals out in the world?

Any tips would greatly help or a mod to increase the day time :)

Yes. Build (small) houses regularly or take over the existing ones in the world (Wooden houses in Meadows and Stone Towers in Black Forest) which is much cheaper in build costs.

You can place teleporter Portals wherever you want and it's highly recommended when you start expanding farther away or to distant islands. Just keep in mind that you can't transport metals through these portals and you'll need a ship to bring them over from longer distance.

Take advantage of moon light during the night time (i.e. travel along the coast or areas with limited tree cover).

At night I typically focus on traversing the coastline because that's typically the most illuminated area during night time. In addition, if you do end up triggering any spawns they can only come from one direction (i.e. can't spawn from the sea/ocean).

Bring portal materials (20 fine wood, 10 wood, 2 surtling cores, 10 greydwarf eyes) with you. Have a portal ready at home so you can just link them when the night falls. This way, you only really need one base.

Just tuern these Rotten shacks into cheap bases with just a workbench, cmpfire and bed
So you can sleep and have allways day if you want

Worst case, just build a campfire next to a large stone outcrop and wait until daylight. Using the abandoned buildings as a shelter is better, of course. Since it's temporary, placing the campfire outside the door should be fine to sleep. If it's raining, you may need to add a canopy above the fire to keep it going.

You do not need sleep. Night is a bit more dangerous, so if you are struggling in an area, try to find a safe place for the night, but if the enemy are generally not too tough for you, keep on going. It can be nice because many things you want to click are easier to see in the dark due to glowing.
By the time you get to really dangerous places, like the plains (groups of starred enemy can be tough) you should have a portal and go home to dump your cargo, refill your food, repair your stuff, get your big rested buff, and hit it again.
Honestly, there is seldom a reason to really explore inland in this game. Most things are either visible from the shoreline, on the shoreline, or common enough that you will just find another one somewhere down the line.

Use and abuse the boats. A skilled sailor can cover vastly more ground, and without any major resource commitments.

Since you said you wouldn't mind a mod, I can recommend ExtendedDaytime by castix. It is H&H compatible, and by default doubles the day compared to night, but you can config it. I use it because I find the vanilla days vs nights unbalanced.

And as has already been said, build or take over huts, or just shelter by a fire (door ways to troll caves are good for this)

Carry 40-50 wood and 5 stone... this will let you drop a work bench, a camp fire a bed and a small shelter and just camp where you are... Generally I try to do this in the meadows. In the Swamps minus Wights there isn't a huge difference between day night so I rarely notice.

But once it is dropped and you clear near by enemies you sleep and it is dawn. You break everything down and continue on your way.

The 18 minute day cycle is much too short.

To build temporary settlement takes like 2 minutes, and you will have it forever...
