Using spices or health items

Was doing good until I need to use a health item or spice, I double click lmb and it keeps saying cancel or combo? idk I've died up to 4 times because of this. Got up to the screwdriver point I think used in the rec room on the arcade machine but idk I uninstalled because its annoying because of that.

You have to double click on one item (e.g. the chem) then double click on the item to combine it with. Once you do that it'll consume both items and give you the result.
