Patch 4.0 broke the Rift S - Oculus Dash Killer - Meta quest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ app - SteamVR Open XR setup
I use a rift s, running a low bufgt comp (i5 7600K, 16GB ddr4, gtx1060 3GB), and always used the mandatoshitty "Meta Quest Link"app to let my pc recognize my Rift S, but this ♥♥♥♥ of an app ruin my play experiences by eating half of my performances.

The 4.0 update came and was followed by a hotfix supposed to fix my issue. now using MetaXR's runtime stops the game from loading even the avatar calibration, while using SteamVR's runtime lock my hands at my hips (they are well tracked, think its a game issue)

What to do know? I've spent the last 2 days trying to launch the game, scavenging for a solution online, and i'm on the border of making a voodoo doll out of zuckerberg's face to let him remember that u have no right to slee ♥♥♥♥ to individuals.
For the gamedevs: Why enquiring about warning the user of such things? 1% of the playerbase dont understand what OpenXR is, why letting unknowledged people do the work? This game is not free, and i've spent more time trying to make it work than actually playing it (we speak more than 100 hours)
Please make it so we don't feel the only way to get the game to work is by shaking the "refunding" flag...

With further looks into it: it seems that Oculus Dash Killer is the issue. I can play the game without it, just with less performances. That is bothering, but not stopping you from playing the game.

If u used mods or Oculus Dash Killer, i recommend u uninstall them in order to play, or wait for a patch that'l bring back my fps
Cheers, smash some rocks

For the hands stuck at waist issue:
In SteamVR settings, Video tab, "Pause Vr when headset is idle" or something close to that. Is that setting turned off?
That was one reason before this update that made the hands do that for some people.

Unfortunately my Rift S is dead (likely bad cable) so I can't test this out myself.

It is indeed turned off as the dash-killer github recommended
turning it on doesnt change anything
I think that the game reads the rift S as a Meta headset and then require that Meta's OpenXR is used, but when I do so, i dont even reach the calibration screen, game get stuck on the yellow warning screen

Yeah, I just ignore the "incorrect OpenXR" warning b/c it still lets me calibrate and all anyways. (Using Quest 3 but over Virtual Desktop and Steam VR for modding/recording purposes)
My only other suggestion is to get the attention of a dev via the support channel on their official discord, as I'm not sure how often they peruse the Steam Discussions.

When I try to ignore it, so using SteamVR's OpenXR, the game stays on "Next" in SteamVR while, on my screen, i get the "WRONG OPENXR PLUGIN DETECTED"
Also the error is already on their website, gonna notice them on discord rn
