I think it probably the same as it is when you played long ago

If you like pay 2 win, predatory gambling, with inflation so bad that by the time you spend 1000 hours getting enough in game money to even buy a mid ranged fusion boat, the prices will double, then yep. Its not like it was when the game first game out.

At one point the game died, and was sold. To give you a idea on how much the new owners care about players, and the actual game. They deleted everything, just to force the few remaining people that play to re gamble in the cash shop, because there is zero way to get any of the good ships, or items save the cash shop. People will lie to you and tell you thats not true, but it is.

The pvp is just who spent the most in the cash shop, and spend longer grinding skills. The speed boosts, and other 30 day things use to cost something like 50 a month. Top end ships were over a billion ducrats, which starting from scratch to get that would take something like 1500 hours, then another 1000 or more to grind the skills.

It was a good game between 2010 and 2012, when the cash shop was min, and there were no gambling bottles. Now its just a few gambling addicts, and their addicted slaves that grind ducrats for them.

I want to return to Uncharted Waters. However I wasn't sure if this was the game to do so with or if I should wait for origin.

If you like top down style game play go with orgins but I rather like how this uncharted is currently

This is still a game worth trying if you're very interested in the sailing genre and want to start playing something now. But there are new games coming out this year, including "Sailing Era" (which just got released this week), as well as Uncharted Waters Origins (which is planning to be released here on Steam sometime late this year).

That being said, UWO is vast, with lots of things to do. But because it's been around for years, the graphics are dated. It also suffers from tutorial issues (because its such a vast game), and the issues that go with Free to play (cash shop, gambling, inflated economy, the Dungeons, etc.)

So....

Feel free to give UWO a try. But I wouldn't heavily invest time into this game, especially with all the new games that are coming out or will come out.

Hope this helps! =D

It's still a good game and they changed the schooling so it's not as tedious anymore.

I've been playing UWO on and off since 2012 and still find it enjoyable. It is the most educational game I've played.

I came back because it is still enjoyable but the playerbase is bad now and only due to the pure greed! It's very cash shop focused now but you can still enjoy the game

im sick of people carrying on like this is p2w its not and if you played the new one origins, my god thats way way worse. people need to stop thinking oh hard grindy game must be p2w like damn. 2 gambling theres no gambling and people need stop acting like gambling in any form forces you to play. its a choice get over it gambling isnt the devil because humans cant issue self control, coming from a gambiling addict who quit. we tell you its not true because its not. its nothing to do with cash shop they played way longer then you ffs bro doesnt understand grindy games seems like most dont. orgins is way more p2w shoves it in ya face every minute.
