How do I ensure I get more deeper dungeons?
I rarely see dungeons of over 20 floors, but some people regularly seem to see dungeons of over 30 floors. How do I ensure I get these deeper dungeons? Is it purely luck?

Any help?

Alter these settings:

max_dungeon_level = 50
max_dungeon_level_skew = 3

I think default max level is 65, so I'd try raising it to 100 maybe. Also, don't raise the skew too high or you will no longer see dungeons that you can actually finish (and get the bonus for completion of the entire dungeon).

What does skew mean in this context?

Skew gives the distribution of depths. For instance, if you set max dungeon depth to 50, you'll get a distribution that averages around some number (I think 25 though I've never tested that). Setting the skew higher "skews" the distribution to more deeper dungeons (not sure by how much per skew level).

Ah, ok; thanks. Yeah, I do want to finish dungeons; and I find that at my current power it's difficult to do so even with high teens dungeons. I just posted 130 undead enemies at level 18, I think against my 8 man newbs. Just not enough levels and AoE to do that quickly.

you can make it so that you basically have an unlimited amount of time to finish a dungeon.

You need to play like 2k turns to get your Battle Magic high enough to cast enough Battle Extensions though :(

I think SpiralRazor means with modding. You can mod extend battle to only require 1 mana and this have near infinite dungeon diving time!

Ah, I don't want to mod at least for now, since I want the Achievements ;)

Set battle length to 100, the bar for your mages to start casting extend battle becomes much more reasonable.

Yeah, I already have. But on 20-plus story dungeons that's still going to be rough...

P.S. I am using an 8-man stack, so perhaps that's why I am so frustrated with the rate I am finishing each floor. Some floors have too many mobs for a 8-man stack to burn through! ;(

18 is max, I think. I am treating the game like an RPG; 8 feels far more intimate. Of course, there are no cute females in my stacks - one of the great demerits of this game! ;)

Edit: Actually, I guess the Sprite is a female, but that ain't near humanoid enough for me...

It doesn't count as a mod (I think) if you replace the unit pictures. There's info in the modding subforum on how to do that. There's nothing differentiating male and female in DE other than the pictures.

I left default max level as is, and I doubled skew. And I like the results. What have you been using?
