Offline play
Has problem with offline play been fixed? I am thinking of buying the game but as I usually can play only offline if that is problematic then I might better skip. Otherwise seems like a great game. Cheers.

What problem?
I frequently play offline. I can start and play the game offline. And I can start Steam and the game while being connected to the Internet, then play offline. No issues whatsoever.

There were some posts about it last year.

Are you sure that was Diety Empires?
Because I doubt they could afford to have a WebServer to be used for online play.

I've never had an issue playing offline.

There was definitely an issue where playing in offline mode would eventually result in a message saying "update required" and having to go online for a minute to make it go away. Last time this was reported was like a few months ago so I'm not sure whether it's been fixed or not. I don't think it was a very common issue to begin with though.

For some reason my mods dont load if I run DE offline even though they are local path. I can still play the game since the mods are saved within the save file BUT not the graphic files so it looks even worse than normal :)

Have to phone in every 2 or 3 sessions..... Looks like it is still a feature. I never would of bought this if I had of known. Great game otherwise.

it is not fixed. if i do not log into steam online every 3 days you get the update needed flash screen when you load up game and it will auto close you out even if you continue or start a new game untill you log back online. very frustrating personally because i often have to go a week or 2 with out being able to get online so i get to play the game for all of maybe 2 days at a time.

i have tried everything suggested before including wiping and dling whole game it is something coded into it. no i am not playing beta and never even had beta on my machine. this is a problem i have had since it came out, over 2 separate laptops with different specs. it is 100% tied to not being online and getting the daily steam update checks.

Exactly as it is with me. At home I am playing game less often but when I go to my couple of days long trips I have more time to play. I play games in offline mode and connect only to get updated or workshop maps and such. Sometimes I have internet access and sometimes not, so having a game you want to play but you can't as there is no internet is like not having that game at all.

Thanks guys for the responds. Great comunity here :)

so, i can confirm if you do not go online for a few days the game indeed tells you to connect to steam and either crash's or prevents you from actually playing since the notice will pop up every 2-5 seconds.....

since its clear this has such a DRM and can NOT be played offline due to such DRM im quite upset that the dev has not only neglected to address it here on the forums , but has left the fact you can not play it offline go unknown even on the store page.... there are quite a few games with DRM that requires you to be online either constantly or every so often, and all those i have seen state such in the store page!

It's bonkers. If there is anyone who would pirate this game (doubtful), they'd be the demographic that'd be likely to buy a copy down the line. DRM probably costs sales on a game like this.

I agree. This game is best suited for mature players already familiar with the genre, so it's more likely to attract people who can pay $30 for their next 300-500 hours of enjoyment.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

clearly it is intentional since you really CANT just accidentally include DRM in a game that has NO online functionality etc, as someone who has both modded AND coded games.... its legit not possible to make a game and accidentally include DRM....

furthermore this is not a new issue ... there has been more then enough threads and time to ENSURE the dev knows about this .... so considering everything its CLEAR the dev is deceiving not only paying customers , but potential customers and STEAM themselves

just because a DRM lets you play for a few hours to a day at max offline... its still a DRM that prevents offline play and as such NEEDS to be something that the steam page CLEARLY states

worst part is i REALLY wanted to support the dev and actually loved the game, but if i cant play the game i bought .. combined with the fact the dev clearly pulled this kinda thing and has not even commented on any of these threads that discuss it.... i cant support that
