Terrible performance and the demo is just so bland
I like the idea and the art style but man it runs like complete crap and I have a pretty good PC. I made a carnivore and anytime I got hungry which is every 30 steps I have to kill a creature but every time I attack my game freezes for 20-30 seconds and runs at 2 FPS when it unfreezes, it takes like 10 hits to kill something so you do the math. The controls are terrible and clunky which make picking up and eating meat a terrible chore and pretty much any other activity in the game. The world is just copy and paste everywhere and the best part about this species game is the world is empty! I seen 2 other species in a 15 minute session. Needs lots of work still.

Hi Bueno

First of all thanks for the feedback regarding the performance, would you mind sharing your specs with us, even if you have a powerful PC it's good to know if its a specific piece of hardware causing issues for us to keep track of. For example a certain brand of GPU may perform weirdly.

The demo is still very much a work in progress and we are actively updating it. As of today there should be a new patch out which aims to resolve some of the lag issues that we had, caused by a memory leak in certain situations, one of which was when striking other enemies, and I would be interested in whether you are having the same issues following this patch.

In terms of the demo content itself, it is a very pre-alpha build as the intro screen states and we will continue to update the demo as development continues, but maybe we should make the demo state a little clearer on the Steam page.

All the best
Dan

Yeah I agree with TC, the game runs really poorly. I have a 2070 super, i7-9700 and 16GB RAM. So there's something wrong with the game.

The character controls and movement are also really clunky, so I hope that gets better.

Aside from that the game is an interesting concept and I hope it eventually becomes better then spore. Also is there going to be a cell stage? I always liked the cell stage the best in spore. Creature stage is also fun.

Hi,

Some of the biggest performance hits were due to a memory leak in the demo which should be fixed now, if your comment is based on a recent play then we will need to have a look back and see if theres more work to be done there.

As for a cell stage, there are no plans for a cell stage, whilst the game shares some similarities with Spore, especially the creature editor, the actual gameplay won't be spore-like.

Thanks,
Dan
Another BIG problem is when you are a giant sea leviathan, you spend so much time spinning in circles just to catch a piece of meat, in my opinion it would be easier if meat sinked to the seafloor.
Another update i would like is a more diverse color option, right now you can only have 2 colors at once, i hope that in future updates you will be able to use patters like stripes, spots etc.
