Is this legal?
Among Us is going to sue you, lol. This is flagrant.

This can be considered as a clone, and video game clones are completely legal as long as we don't directly steal sprites or assets ( and we don't do that! ).

Yeah, so that basically means you're copycats and have your own zero ideas. Shameless disgrace, guys.

I completely disagree with you.
We have many ideas we want to implement that would make the game unique.

You disgust me. You steal work of indie game company with completely no remorse and you are even wondering if you should put price tag on it. "We have many ideas we want to implement that would make the game unique." is not an explanation. "Video game ideas can't be copyrighted." Ofcourse they can't be copyrighted. You can't copyright shooter with zombies, but i'm pretty sure you can copyright Left 4 Dead. You didn't just copy the idea itself, you basicly have copied the whole game with minimal effort and slight changes. This game isn't unique. And I find it kinda weird that exactly at the moment of peak of interest in Among Us you have accidentaly got the same idea. I'm sick of your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I don't even know why I'm writing this message, since i know you're just going to disagree and try to protect your rip-off, and since I also know that you know all of this, but as i said, you are still going to try and protect it. ♥♥♥♥ you.

There is literally no need for hate.
All we are trying to do is - bring a new way of playing this game format. If you feel like the game is very similar, we will accept every criticism and make the correct changes.

Thanks for the comment

I have been played Mafia since the 90's and I find this discussion weird. Isn't Among Us basically a simplified clone of Werewolf, which was a clone of Mafia? (I have not played Among Us, but it feels so from what I read about it -- the mainstream have learned about something that exists for more than 20 years.) New games take inspiration from old ones all the time.

It's not about gameplay. It's about looking 100% like Among Us. At least redo your characters, maps, activities and stuff. At least a new design guys. Because for now it just looks like you are thieves.

Because you can, doesn't mean you should.

The map, tasks, and "sabotages" are mostly unique.

The map was a completely unique design, but the scheme looks similar because this type of map is optimal for such game-mechanics.
Almost all tasks, are original and have nothing to do with the other title.

The characters are jelly-bean like because it makes the game cute and cartoonish - there might be a re-design during early access.

Well, i'm pretty sure all you wanted was to improve the original game. But yeah, a re-design should be a good thing to do. At least just to clarify the misunderstanding with the other game. Even if it seems cute and stuff, do something original. Because indeed it looks like you added more features than them. But you have to admit that, 80% of the people in here are saying that it REALLY looks like Among Us. Focus on those things, or I think people will only see you as a copycat.
Adrianox18PL Nov 18, 2020 @ 9:37am
In my opinion, you will not be able to "shine" like Among Us. Rather, it is not legal to do copy-paste a very popular game. In short: you make fools of yourself. I do not recommend this game for being the same as the original.
P.S .: I'm from Poland.

Not to be rude but,
I'm not making the game for myself - I'm building it so you can have fun with your friends.

For you as a customer, there are no cons in the existence of this game.

I don't know how similar Space Station 13 is, but there is also the board game Battlestar Galactica (2008) about performing missions on a spaceship, where some players are traitors. Yet another game that Among Us probably took a lot from...

It is great that you have ideas for changing the gameplay, there is so much space to experiment with in this genre, there are probably a hundred roles invented for Mafia (and Among Us has just two of them). We have been playing our own Wild West-themed game, which is pretty great and probably would be even greater if someone computerized it in an Among Us-like form.

Among Us seems to rely on the network effect, it will be difficult to repeat their success (just like it is impossible to beat Facebook -- even if you make a better social network, people will remain on Facebook because that's where their friends are). With Among Us fans assuming that you are just a clone without looking deeper (even if it is not true) it will be even harder.

(BTW why is being from Poland relevant? I am from Poland too.)
