Singleplayer/Custom Content?
I am not really a fan of playing skirmishes without any background, briefing, immersion. Is there anything else offered here? Especially when it comes to handmade missions and campaigns?

I´ve seen the 4 mission campaign in the workshop, looks interesting, and might be one of the reasons why I would buy this game.

It wonders me, why is there only one user campaign so far? I have seen no other missions or campaigns in the workshop, and I am checking things out for a couple of years now. Is it hard, are there no real tools, or really not much interest to create good custom missions or linked campaigns?

Don´t want to sound demanding. I am happy for every modder that give us any free content. However compared to similar popular games with workshop this looks like an exception when it comes to the available custom content.

Its really, really hard to make those missions. Those 4 missions are the result of several months effort from wolf.

There actually IS another campaign - Operation Sledgehammer for the Burning Lance mod, but I've not personally played that one so im not too sure on the contents. Just that it exists.

But yeah for now theres not much. The development plan is to move to a singleplayer content update after carriers, so you might want to wait and buy then depending on how you like whatever comes out

Wow that is crazy, wth so demanding. Hats of for the modders taking this effort.

Do you know why is scenario/campaign design so hard and time intensive?

Will check out the Burning Lance mod, thanks. Content like this keeps games alive, I am pretty sure not alone, would have bought it also at 100% price long ago, its not about the money but about the content and worthy time investment for me.

Now I will def go for it solely for the reason alone to see this mod campaign and the result of months of work.

A lot of the difficulty comes from just how the system works. Right now the campaigns modders can add are, basically built off the tutorial system. It works great for heavily scripted tutorials but makes setting up actual fights difficult at best. Theres a lot of trying to figure out how to get the AI to do what you want, and the whole thing takes some custom scripting to function in the first place.

Its definitely possible for us to get more added in as modders, but its just a lot of work when most modders want to be adding their own factions, or weapons or w/e, rather then wrangling the AI for a few weeks to get it to path correctly or somesuch.

Hopefully, any AI changes or the singleplayer content in the future will come with a much improved situation on that front, but cant promise anything.

I see, there is people willing to make cool content but need to painfully excavate some tut missions in order to make it happen. What a shame and missed opportunity.

Yeah also hope that the sp content will make the job for you guys easier and that it will be not too late so that most of you modders left or there will be no new folks to join in the campaign/modding community.

Looking for some mp action but the real reason why I will buy this game is the 4-mission campaign, perhaps the mentioned Op Sledgehammer/Burning Lance, and the prospect to see more of your interesting content without having 7x leg days pain. Will go for this game in the coming days when I finally have some time.

Hi! Wolf here, Tuna's right that making the custom missions is fairly difficult to get a hang of. I helped another modder with getting their custom campaign off the ground last month so hopefully there will be a new one on the workshop Soon(TM). Honestly, a lot of the time that went into ETTR was writing the narrative. Takes a lot of iteration to get it feeling natural. I could throw out a dozen cookie-cutter battle scenarios fairly quickly if they didn't have any story, but as you mentioned, without the immersion it's much less interesting. I'm looking forward to the singleplayer update coming next year, hopefully the AI behaviour will be a lot more moddable so I can make some more interesting stuff.

Thats good news,

Bought the game because of your guys´ work and already played through ETTR except for getting all in the last. Thanks for your work. Was a really good experience, SP works really well with NFC.
