Interested in buying, have questions though.
The game looks like it would be right up my alley, but how much content does it have since it's early access? I know that it has some multiplayer modes since I saw it in some youtube videos, but does it have single player stuff or a tutorial to help you ease into the game? Also can you have a bunch of people in a multiplayer game for a bigger battle?

The amount of players you can have in a multiplayer game depends on the map and game mode. I think the game is worth it, but many people have their own thoughts. If you are looking for a youtube series to give you the ropes, the youtuber JD has a good tutorial series on Nebulous Fleet Command.

As of right now, the only single player content is the tutorial, which will get you through the basics but is a bit outdated. The best way to get better at Neb is to play multiplayer games and ask for advice. There are heaps of more experienced players, including myself, who are happy to guide new players. I would highly recommend joining the discord, you can get helpful critiques on your fleets, find a helpful buddy to play with using the @pingable buddy role, and talk in voice chat with your teammates, should you wish to.

Nebulous is a great game that I would highly recommend you buy, especially since new content (carriers) is coming soon™️.

To quickly answer the last bit: player limit is more or less just set by map, and there are 100 player maps that exist. Now the game is really not built around that so its a big laggy, sometimes crashy, but you can definitely go nuts on big battles. I personally participated in a 600k point battle in multiplayer and the game managed to survive. Usual games are 3k per player maxing out at 5v5 typical, so normal range is 15kv15k instead of 300kv300k lol

Peer-Peer games are limited to 10 players though just as a netcode thing, servers can take more.

If you really want singleplayer content, then wishlist and keep an eye on it, or use the follow feature but I really dont know how that works since I've not needed it. The games not got much in terms of singleplayer even if you can do Vs. AI skirmishes. Planned to change so its just a wait and see situation

Okay thanks. I'll hold off on purchasing the game and keep an eye out on any updates.

Not much for single player atm but you can do custom battles against AI
Really hope there will be a single player aspect to this game.

There will be, or at least its the stated plan. Nothing for it but waiting and seeing though.

I'd recommend not buying the game unless you are willing to wait anywhere from 20 minutes to 1-2 hours for a single match.

This game's community is full of time-wasters, who act like everyone has all damn day to sit in this game.
Here are a few things that will get on your nerve once you start noticing them:

1. People build fleets in lobbies. This would be fine if the lobby does not have enough players for a match, but more often than not, you will have 2 full teams and a third of the players are f**king around in the editor, not readying up.

2. Lobbies fill up with spectators, making a server appear full, when there's a team without a player. Often these spectators are in either team and then decide to spectate, further extending the wait time for a match.

3. It takes forever to form a 4v4 lobby, and as soon as it fills up, some guy hops in and asks for 5v5 so he can play... The lobby votes a 5v5 map and then nobody joins for another half hour, and all of the above repeats itself.

People in this game have no respect for anyone's time, and f**s around like a kid on summer vacation.
I just uninstalled the game after 480h, because I am sick to death of waiting for these pricks to form a damn game. At least half these hours I've spent in editor, or waiting in lobbies, so think on that before buying.

"The game has a small community" is no excuse for this nonsense. Since it does, people who have white ranks, or higher, should know better by now than to f**k around all day and make everyone wait ages for a lobby. Either play the game or go chit chat in Skype!

With the newest update they improved AI so, skirmish against the AI is now a bit more valuable.

Unfortunatly devs gave up on other singleplayer content and decided to go the "competitive multiplayer" route so many early acces fall in and die because no one cares to play indie games with some (ie. handfull) die hard fans.

False information, the latest devlog reveals that the next major update will be a proper singleplayer campaign mode
Tuna Jan 10 @ 2:26pm
Yeah not really sure how you missed that one, a whole section of the devlog is about "Well conquest wasn't going to be singleplayer but since people seemed to want that so much, we're doing a singleplayer campaign next and heres our reasoning"

My game says "Single Player (Tutorial/Campaign)" not Skirmish

I bought it...
Last time I played/messed with the game... Sept 2023.

"all-time peak 17 hours ago"

If that's your metric, then the game has been dead since release
