Worth it for singleplayer?

I despise playing rts games against other players as I am awful at them, is it still worth a try?

I think I tried it a year ago or so before but refunded it because it frustrated me lots...

Not right now; the AI is too basic. Wait for the next big patch; that one will bring a new game mode and might also include AI improvements.

Ong, people who are "Waiting for conquest to come out" are probably going to be in for a seriously bad time unless they plan on doing it singleplayer or with pre existing friends. Neb gamers don't take prisoners, loool. I can forsee the stack lobbies already.

OTOH, losing in Neb is a learning experience. As long as you don't go in with the expectation of having a W>L rate from the get-go, it can be fun and edifying even if you have no idea what you're doing at first. And neb players generally will help you out and explain what's going on.

But for someone's who dead set on singleplayer only, yeah, better wait.

^ this is what I'm waiting on trying to find a game that plays like airships conquers the skies with the strategic map/points to be fought over. Conquest is a perfect match to that, I'm not aware of other games that match this well. That will bring a purpose to playing this game, currently I just have no reason to want to play.

I've played exclusively the AI skirmish mode and I've had a lot of fun with it, but the AI never really does anything different. I get bots will always be limited but they pretty much use the same tactic over and over and can't position well or react much to your fleet's presence. As others have said, hopefully the next update will improve them a bit.

Don't be fooled thinking the AI is bad, it's actually extremely challenging to fight against. After all, you are only one human that has to click as fast as possible and make split second decisions fast, the CPU can do all that in a heartbeat.

(Except when you have AI on your team - they tend to do really bad lol!)

I'll just wait for now, I'll keep an eye on the game though!

(Main reason I even rediscovered the game is because of modding, I enjoy Starsector a lot and heard Tartiflette is making mods for this game nowadays)

Yea he is actively making some good ones. A bunch of maps, a weapon mod and a fleet mod, along with helping with a tonne of others.

With Tariflette jumping ship, Starsector has become unplayable.

Wow, imagine not having a mod.db page for that stuff.... I have considered trying out Starsector for a good while now but this puts a damper on that...
