Weapon Attack Speeds and Whip Animation
Really my only issue is that most weapon types are too slow and don't feel rewarding at all to use. The Dagger and Boot-type weapons were the only things that felt good to use. Everything else just seems to stick you place too much or have a horrendous recovery time, even in the air.

Other than that, what's up with the lame whip animation? It might as well be a curved sword with that attack style. I was really hoping for a classical whip slap, especially after Curse of the Moon.

Griping aside, I had no issues performance-wise. Seems to be really solidly built, smooth transitions made grinding easy, and I have overall high hopes for the end product.

I loved the whip, thought it was done well. some of the weapons hidden moves try V> X with some of them

I feel you. I played just with dagger and rapier, everything else seemed way too slow. Mainly the whip.

Yeah, the whip attack in terms of hitboxes is kind of lame, but it's also probably the best weapon in terms of animation. It has a nice, powerful-looking animation adds that little oomf when you see/use it. The whip swing animation is nice a snappy whereas a lot of other weapon animations feel pretty slow and sluggish. Like, have you seen the kicking animation? Regardless of the actual game play speed she just kinda like sticks her foot out there, doesn't really look like it would be that powerful.

P.S. Have you seen the pose she does when you hold up on the D-pad? A pose like that is literally made to be snappy and dynamic and instead she just like flops her arms into the stance and it looks mega lame.

I agree with the weapon attack speed. A lot of the weapons felt rather sluggish to me, and didn't do enough additional damage to make them seem worth using when you could spam a dagger or rapier several times in the span of one swing.

Would be nice to see a greater reward from the risk of the slower weapons.

I agree; I almost always stick to the fast weapons, since their damage-per-second is always so much higher. That's been the case with every past Igavania, too, so it felt normal, but you're right; it should be addressed.

Faster weapons are usually higher DPS yes, but there are some exceptions, such as the holy cross claymore thing (can't remember the actual name) from dawn of sorrow and Portrait of Ruin. That thing had one of the highest of not the highest DPS in the game with back-dash cancelling bc it just hit so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard and had the holy attribute, which many enemies were weak to.

Its tough to balance because if you make the reward too high then it becomes very easy to just go for one big hit in super safe situations and to run away and play a very defensive hit-and-run style in things like boss fights. Fast short range weapons typically have higher DPS but you have to stay closer to the enemy longer to get all those hits in.

The whip has to be my favorite distinctive change for Metroidvania. the tall hitbox allows you to essentially have a damage shield in your area, Flame whip in particular kills everything in 1-3 hits.

Then again, I'm pretty sure the Classic Whip will return as the fabled Whip Sword, but I honestly think the job was really done well in distnguishing weapon types, Now If only we can work on those Axes to make them more different than a heavier 2H Sword.

100% agree but people will just say "get gud" it seems. If things dont improve from beta im going to feel really hosed, this IS a common problem though. Slow weapons in Dead Cells are worse too.

I'm gonna play around some more with this dodge cancelling trick, see if that helps. Also gonna try and max out all the shards. I kinda just stuck with Summon Bat 9/9. It's a great farming skill.
