Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night - Beta Backer Demo

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night - Beta Backer Demo

Was having a great time until Zangetsu
... who ended up feeling like a HUGE difficulty spike. Honestly thought I had stumbled into a higher level area where I wasn't supposed to be yet. After dying to him about a half dozen times I backtracked all the way back to home base, crafted a Flame Whip, bought a few more potions and managed to just barely take him down, using up all my potions and spending all my cash in the process.

Nothing else in the demo really challenged me the same way, in fact that was the first time I died. So this difficulty spike really stood out and soured the demo a bit.

Beyond that, really loved the graphics, music and style. Gameplay had about the right pace and I liked the range of weapons and shards available. Very glad to see how much this has progressed and am looking forward to final version!

I pretty sure they upped his difficulty on purpose because he's the end of the demo. I had fun toying around with him.

I'm not good at boss fights, but I didn't have much trouble. I only died once or twice. I felt there was lots of room for error.

I had to use a hi-potion. Just one. Course, I am lvl 15, which is probably QUITE high for that point.

I blame all the shard farming I did.

I mean you cant just face roll him. react to his clearly stronger attacks and punish him for it.
Maction Jun 28, 2018 @ 2:55pm
I found him pretty easy to be honest, he's way too slow to react on your moves and I'm using a slow weapon too : https://clips.twitch.tv/SolidAntediluvianWallabyCharlieBitMe
To be fair though this is my second run at him.

The fact you didn't get into the fire stage shows just how hard you cheesed this. His turnaround animation seems to override almost everything else.

Without doing that, he's pretty insane. Using Lance/tentacles/arrow I was just about able to do it. He's a ludicrous difficulty spike at that point, his attacks are just way, way too punishing and he has far too much health. Half his health or half his damage and he's fairly reasonable honestly.

Also tentacles are kinda dumb in how difficult they make seeing everything.

Upgrading the Straight Arrow shard (you'll probably need to buy some bronze plates and break them down for bronze) helped a ton. That shard honestly gets pretty crazy at higher tier.

Try to use lance and throw axe(red shard)

I went in loaded with healing potions and took him out after 3 tries. It was all over too fast! Loved the beta demo and still digging around for more.

I beat him first try. He hit me a lot, but once i got the his attack patterns down he became easier to predict. That, and I hadn't really used any items up to that point.

Does Morte drop one? I could not for the life of me get it to drop one.

I died twice but used that as an excuse to go back and explore more. Ended up beating him with the use of some items at level 13. This would have been a concern if you couldn't save the game, but with the saves it's fine, just level up some more, do some more cooking for stat increases too.

He was pretty fun boss, he just punishes extremely hard for any mistake you make. Dying doesn't really cost you anything, so just try to learn his moves.

You've got to be kidding me. It took me two tries with no item use and no going back to the shop for anything, just using the Flamberge and Head Flail, and the first time I died was because I walked in already damaged. The guy was a joke since he doesn't even deal contact damage to you and you can just wail on him from outside his range or backdash cancel whenever you get in his range.
Is this your first time playing any Igavania?

How does he have too much health when you can kill him before he even activates his second phase?
