Download? When?
When do pre-orders typicaly allow you to pre-download the game before the unlocking of it?
This is the first game i've pre-ordered on steam.

All the ones I've had are about 1 week out.

Thanks.

It's really up to the publisher (Infinite is already gold, so all the pencils are down).
I would expect the minimum to be 2 days.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by your question, but pre-ordering a game (EG on Steam) just means that you don't have to buy it after it is released. You've ensured yourself a copy; there's no need to wait in lines or worry about selling out. However, no one is allowed to play or install the game until March 26th.

Does that answer your question?

NOPE, NOPE NOPE. There have been games that you can pre-order and before the midnight launch you could install but not play.

Yes, many games allow you to preload the game but lock the contents until the release time (usually at 2am CST bleck). The preload for XCOM was 4 days before launch. I believe that A:CM was a week. It's hard to remember.

Not true. When you prepurchase a game on Steam, generally you're able to install it beforehand so that you can begin playing the minute it gets released, rather than wait until launch and then have to sit through a lengthy (incredibly so for my 300~400 Kb/s internet speed) install process as you wait anxiously for it to finish.

Depends on the publisher / developer - and not all games get a preload option.

Usually if there is going to be one it's two or three days prior to release.

they should enable to pre load the game at least several days before release... that game was top 3 seller for like over a month now.. there must be hunders thousands of copies sold... steam will die if they only allow to download at time when game gets unlocked to play.

I hope steam/irrational games allows us to preload a couple of days before release. From looking on bioshocks main site pc version gonna be 20-30gb and my speed is only 4.5mb so if anyone from steam is reading this give us poor download speed peeps a chance to preload and enjoy the game on the day of release ....pwetty pweeeaase valve...(offers a cake sacrifice to appease steam gods).
