Buy with no regional restrictions
Currently I live in Russia. THe version that sells here has a regional restriction. Is it possible to buy the version without restrictions.
I know that it will cost more.

Nope. 2k have shown much disrespect for russian community by puting strict regional restrictions to games they sold in our section of Steam store. These rats even tryed to add regional lock to X-COM:EU Pre-order after they sold it without restrictions. I'm not going to buy games with 'onlyallowrunincountries' restriction since I don't want to support publisher's harsh methonds. The idea was to supress gift re-sellers but in the end normal gamers suffer.

P.S. Just a few hours ago they even added regional lock to Pre-order bonuses like Bioshock 1. They sold this game for 5 years and added locks especially to Bioshock: Infinite pre-orders. Pathetic.

Thaks for saying about the state of Bioshock. Have you tried to buy steam keys from American shops, like GMG? Any problems with them?

Nope. Rest of the world is region free, 2K have someting against Russians only. However, as far as I know game is not Steamworks, so buying keys somewhere will not give you a Steam copy, nor the free games as pre-oder bonus.

With all these restrictions it seems like as if we all are driving in the ghetto. It feels like they trying to say: "Hey you, sit there behind the fence and play with yourself!" This is racism!

It's eaxactly like this and the easier solution is to vote with our money - simply do not buy this overpriced and, at the same time, locked game with on launch DLC's. Eventually game will get -75% discount on GMG or Amazon so I can grab region-free steam key there.

Some proof:
This is a game itself with "onlyallowrunincountries": http://cdr.thebronasium.com/sub/17624
This is Bioshock 1 they gift: http://cdr.thebronasium.com/sub/19334

Wanted to make post on this myself. This is outrageous! Because of such kind of attitude of 2K towards russian gamers i'm not going to give them money and these give can go ♥♥♥♥ themselves for being nazi. I though we eradicated all nazi back in 1945...

I think the game is Steamworks. In GMG page, it is written "This game requires a free Steam account to play."

And here is a funny news!
2K have blocked their Bioshock: Infinite to be sold to Russians on GreenManGaming!

Just join and check yourself, then come back with proxy: http://www.greenmangaming.com/bundles/

By the time I wrote my previous post in this thread offer was valid. Looks like their butt hurt so much so they work on Sunday just to block access to unrestricted game from Russia and surroundings.

Have you tried VPN?
Coldflame Feb 24, 2013 @ 2:07pm
It's russian law. You get games a hellava lot cheaper by law, so VALVe has to put these restrictions in place to prevent abuse.

Right. I also have the same opinion.

It is not the law, it's a sign of disrespect from 2K. Ubisoft (after removal of online-only DRM) or Valve themselves never restrict their games. Also, it is not much cheaper compared to other games like Max Payne 3 or Hitman:A on release.

Exactly my thoughts. End user never should suffer because of few enterprising students who sell Steam gifts via PayPal. It's publisher/Valve work to find ones who sells tens or hundreds of gifts to strangers.

Exactly my thought, comrade. Anyway, here in russia we have other popular ways of distribution so if they want to fck with us- they lose, not us.
