Soldiers Field hot dog *spoiler*
If you buy a hot dog when you enter Soldiers Field the guy says "One hot dog for the gentelman and his lovely doughter" Seemed so normal on the first playthrough. Now on second I was like ... how do you know:))

Exactly. That is one of the factors why this game is so great. The details are everywhere. From the design of rooms (blood, clater, always trying to play detective and figure out what happened), to writting and everything in between.

When I buy the hot dog from him, it doesn't trigger that dialouge. Is this abnormal?

Hmmm... You sure it's the guy on the left just when you enter Soldiers Field for the first time? He is trying to be salesman of the week. Almost forcing you to buy the hot dog. And as I said, this happened to me on both playthroughs. Just make sure elizabeth is with you. After that Elizabeth asks Booker "How old are you?" and he explains.

The environmental storytelling is sublime. It reminds me a lot of the Fallout series that way. If you pay atention things are far more interesting. I always get frustrated with let's plays of this game as they miss SO MUCH interesting stuff because they are moving too fast.

yeah, in fallout 3 i remember i saved an old man and a couple of kids from being eaten. The most fun was because the hannibals were trying very hard to hide it and convincing me that all is fine and dandy. And this was just by paing close atention. It was not a side mission or any kind of mission. Just a small town I stumbled upon my journey.
Moments like this are priceless in games.

Yeah, I'm certain it's the guy. Adjacent to the ice cream shop.

Because of how Elizabeth works it's possible you were heading the right way in the level and she had run ahead as a result. She will lurk behind you if you go the wrong way so gets caught up in chat moments from time to time.

Playing through an area can often get better results for snippets like the hot dog if you come at them from the wrong direction.
I didnt even know you could buy hotdogs.
