Bird vs Cage ... spoiler I guess
So does anything change at all if you picked either of them? I totally forgot about the bird and cage and didn't even think about the symbolism of the two while picking the cage, but yeah does anything change at all through the game?

Nope, doesn't change anything. That remains to be seen with the DLC, but as of now it doesn't effect the outcome in any way.

Not even the dialogue? as I read it did change it on some website that I can't recall.

Also when will the DLC be ready for download?

It might change one completely inconsequential graphical thing in a single brief sequence for a few seconds, but that could have been a trick of the light. I was not able to confirm it when I chose the other option.

But no, it really doesn't change anything of note.

Oh, I suppose the dialogue immediately following your initial choice is different. "I thought he'd choose the ______" there the blank is filled in by the thing you didn't choose.

cool bro, many thanks to you.

Yeah, the choice just hammering down the variables and constants theme.
SPOILER One of the theories for that is that it is a "test" for the Luttece to know if anything is happenning differently compared to the previous revolution of the story. If Booker dies and come back there and make the same choice, the "twins" will know if it is the correct thing to have so that they can confirm all the previous events.

Nothing really changes, as zoidberg says it just a test being to see if it's a constant (like the flipping of the coin) or it's a variable.

I heavily suspect that it was intended to be used in the end of the game. Be warned that that the following can be considered as a spoiler:

At the end scene, when you turn around to see Elizabeth, Booker says "wait... you are not her", and she is at this time missing the jewelry she was just wearing right before she entered the room. She is wearing neither the bird or the cage at this one time. I'm fairly certain that they originally intended to change this jewelry depending on whether you picked the bird or the cage, but later removed it completely for time restraints or something.

thats probably true, also if you look at the elizabeth that walks on the other bridge after entering the seound lighthouse you will see that, that booker and elizabeth have made the choices that you didn't, e.g if you react to the man on the phone, the other one will have a cloth around his hand, and if you have the cloth the other booker won't have it

Wait, really? Can't believe that developers envisaged even this.
Nothing changed. Though, who chooses cage? You just saved her from one.

I chose cage for the first time. When Elizabeth offered me a choice I thought «hmm, most players obviously will choose bird so I'll choose cage and see what's gonna happen».

I like how she wears it the rest of the game. It doesn't affect story, but its a nice touch

When Elizabeth takes you to the lighthouse for the last time on the boat, she is wearing the broach you didn't choose. Then at the baptism it is gone completely. That is the only thing I noticed.

I originally chose Bird. Little did I know that the bird was her prison and the cage was her freedom. On my second playthrough I chose cage for sure. I didn't notice any actual difference though.
