Windows XP support ends April next year, which means no more patches, updates, etc.
If your system is really beast, you won't have any trouble upgrading to Windows 7.
If your processor is x64 capable, you should go for the 64-bit version. I did it on one of my PCs, which allowed me to increase the RAM above 4GB (I currently have 8GB).
Ah, so you have the XP 64-bit then.
Well, support for it will also end in one year's time. Liking it or not, you'll still have to upgrade.
Actually, XP 64 bit support ended in 2005. That includes security updates. Personally, I refuse to use any OS with any of those plebeian GUI interfaces.
^^^ ignorant post is ignorant. Windows 8 is a stable platform and had been the least headaches of any OS I have setup in the past decade.
QFT. ^ Words of wisdom.
That's the short-lived XP 64-bit edition for Itanium processors. I assumed that the version that OP must be running is the Professional x64 edition, which is still supported.
I should have worded it correctly, my bad...
Well, you're not very bright are you?
So, you're just going to ignore the points I made (which are only a few out of many) and simply try to call me stupid? Is that right xTimeSwordXsn1p3rx1337x?
anyone googled "DX 10 for XP" yet?
