xbox 360 controller problems
First of, I'm using the DS3 tool to emulate an xbox 360 controller. In the game menus the xbox controller layout is being used, but the controller doesn't respond to anything, keyboard and mouse do work. But as soon as I start playing the character keeps turning around constantly, and this is not the first time I've had this problem Mirror's Edge also does this. Unplugging the controller doesn't do anything. And maybe this won't help but in Dishonored the controller works just fine and seeing as it's also an Unreal Engine 3 based game it makes me wonder even more.

I'm going to just go ahead and say it... "why don't you just get an Xbox controller?"
You're basically kludging things, and that often leads to issues.

@OP: You are playing the game on a PC, So use a keyboard & mouse as that's how FPS games are meant to be played on the PC!

I am using a wired 360 controller and have no problems and didn't have to use an emulator for it to work either.

I've had issues with the DS3 tool before with certain games so I just use xbox360 controller. This is the FPS game on PC I've ever used a controller for because it felt like halo...

I usually play with the mouse and keyboard, but I plugged in my Dualshock 3 and DS3 Tool in 360 mode to check it out, and I didn't run into any problems playing it as if it were an Xbox 360 controller. It seemed to work fine.

Obvious troubleshooting questions you probably checked already, but I'll ask to make sure:

- Are you using the latest version of DS3 Tool?
- Do you have the Xbox 360 controller drivers from Microsoft installed?
- After you plugged in your Dualshock and ran DS3 Tool, did you click the "Enable" button? The controller emulation doesn't work for me unless I do this when I start up the tool.
- Your Dualshock controller is definitely showing on the DS3 Tool menu and the battery charge indicator is filling up, right?
- You're in 360 Emulated mode and not one of the other input choices?

@EternalCore yeah I was planning on playing it with mouse and keyboard, but I get this problem even if I don't have the controller plugged in or enabled.
@Fandango yes to all :)
and lastly @Violence I kno, but the fact is my wired Xbox controller broke a few weeks ago so I started using the DS3 tool because I thought it would be a good alternative

To everyone that also gets this problem in the futere: I solved the problem, and it had nothing to do with the DS3 tool, but in fact the Unified Remote server on my pc was acting as a game controller. I haven't tried if you can simply turn it of (I just deleted it since I don't really use anymore). And the problems in Mirror's Edge are gone to.

I've had the same problem for quite some time now. Until now only XCom was affected, so it didn't bother me much. But now Bioshock Infinite had troubles to. So I went searching and finally found a fix.

It comes down to this:
Unplug your 360 controller and/or 360 wireless receiver. Also make sure to unplug other usb devices except your mouse and keyboard.
Go to device manager
Go to human interface devices (HID)
Disable any HID game controllers listed (don't delete, on my pc it reinstalled on reboot).

This is what I did to get my 360 (wireless) controller working on both XCom and Bioshock.
Maybe it can be of help to other configurations to.

Hope it helps others.

You don't need any software to play PC games with a 360 controller these days....you just plug it in and away you go, it is as compatible on a PC as it is on a 360 for 90% of games.

Hi, All first off I understand some people use a 360 Controller on computer games since I Tried it. "Never used a game console to game", especially games that are like GTA or Just Cause ect.

Fact Yes FPS games are better with mouse and keyboard as nothing beats the movement of a mouse.

Fact some games work better on a controller as I mentioned.

This is to all those people who have a tiff of people using Xbox 360 controller on PC.

Problem.

Xbox Controller does not work with this game.

Solution.

Easy: unplug other controllers "in my case it was my flight stick and steering wheel"

More Advanced: you could disable other controllers but I do not recommend for users with limited experience.

Reason.

I think this game does not look at what controller is the default gaming controller and only see's one controller.

I hope this helps.

Tested on Windows 7 64bit
