Windows focus problem / auto-minimizing (resolved!)
Hello. I'm having a problem with Bioshock Infinite that nobody else seems to be experiencing. When I start BSI, the application immediately loses focus and minimizes. Clicking the minimized icon returns to fullscreen but then instantly minimizes again, no matter how many times I click. I was able to play the game once last night. This morning when I got up and booted up to play, this issue doesn't go away no matter what I do.

Things already tried:
-Multiple reboot and restarts.
-Quit any and all non-essential system tray programs (including antivirus)
-I've updated video drivers (NVidia 314.22)
-Checked for some other program consuming resources in the task manager while BSI is running.
-Increased priority of registry variable HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Desktop/ForegroundLockTimeout (read on a forum that this might have an effect on focus loss, but it didn't work)
-Verified Steam cache
-Removed, redownloaded, reinstalled.

None of these worked. And of course I can't troubleshoot for an interfering app in safe mode because safe mode doesn't support DirectX. No, Firefox is not open (nor any other browser). No, I do not have a chat program running in the background.

Specs: Win7 64bit, i7 2600k, 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD system drive + 256GB SSD apps drive (Steam directory located here), GTX570.

Also, I have tested other Steam and non-Steam games. This is the only one that does it.

More info. I can get the game to remax if I hover and right click the preview in the taskbar, but then my windows cursor is overlaid with the game cursor and any right or left click reminimizes the game again. The keyboard works fine, but the game very clearly is not assuming mouse focus when it should. Very frustrating. Help!

Problem resolved! Running the game while the Windows language bar is active (not in the system tray) causes it to steal the mouse focus from BSI for some bizarre reason. Keyboard input doesn't seem to be affected. When the bar is minimized to the system tray, the issue disappears. Very, very strange effect.

Same problem, but mine was resolved by exiting the Bing Desktop (Have to rt-click Bing and hit Exit)

Just a quick note that I had the same issue and exiting my Samsung Magcian application resolved it for me. What an annoying one. :0

Ha Ha!!! I was having the same problem and finally gave up on Windows. I uninstalled so much crap and it was still happening that I decided to re-install Windows from scratch. Now the game launches and works beautifully until I reach the raffle. Then it crashes. Good thing I am playing it for the second time.

I have the same problem, Windows 8, I start the game normally but if I minimize it I cant get the focus again, by holding Alt + Enter for the seconds the game lift and can regain the screen focus but I still see the Windows cursor and when I click I am sent back to Windows.... GRRRR!!!

This was happening with all my games, not just BSI. But this solved it.

Another application that will cause this, is Teamviewer.

The only way I could get it to stop for me was to wait for Kaspersky Anti Virus to finish updating then it fixed itself
