Need help! Game text is unreadable for me! Squares replace letters!
Started up the game and it runs fine, but there are no letters in the text. It's replaced by squares and completely unreadable. I thought it was supposed to do this (never played a Bioshock game before) but it's not.

Game is fine and so is audio, but it's not playable for me because I have no idea what the text says.

Anyone else come across this? I haven't seen anything about it.

Update: Here's how to fix. Validate the game cache files. Pretty simple. You have to wait but it's worth it. Or it's from a glitch that was patched. I fixed it now and finished the game! It's awesome! :)

Same problem here .. Verified game cache and it still didn't work.

I've just deleted the entire game and reinstalled and I still have the problem. Can't find any information online about this, and I can't play the game at all :(

ok, I fixed this - I had the game on my D: on which I was using an ext2 filesystem. I moved the game files to my Steam library on my C: (NTFS) and edited the app manifest to point to the new location. Hey presto, it worked :)

Wait, how? Can you do a step by step thing? My game file is already in my C: unless its something else.

Yeah, I'm not sure it's going to help in your case. Perhaps just verify, then delete and reinstall if it still doesn't work.

* Exited Steam fully
* Moved the game directory from "D:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\BioShock Infinite" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\BioShock Infinite"
* Moved the appmanifest_8870.acf file from the SteamApps dir on D to the SteamApps dir on C
* Edited the appmanifest_8870.acf file to contain the correct directory structure (there's a path in there)
* Started steam
* Played game
* Completed game :)

That's awesome that you figured it out! I guess I just got lucky! But at the very least, we added awareness to this problem, because there wasn't much information about it online.
