Unable to play bioshock infinite, stuck in pre load!

So, i pre purchased bioshock infinite a few days ago. I'm currently in japan on a stint though i am american. One thing i noticed, and approached the community about before i purchased, was that steam was listing the release date as APRIL 25th for me. I asked why this could be happening and the general consensus was that i was in japan (a much different time zone) but using an american steam. Most people said that if i bought it, it would most likely unlock on MARCH 26th with everyone elses release. however that doesnt seem to be the case. In my library, it still states Pre-load (though it is fully preloaded) and when i go to the steam store page, it says play now. but when i click play now, it only opens the preloader again and claims i can play once its released. any ideas?

I'm having the exact same problem (also in Japan, on an American account). I'm really hoping this is just some sort of glitch, and not actually unlocking a month later!

Closing and reopening Steam, unfortunately, didn't do anything for me.

Same problem here, also in Japan but with a French account... seems like there's something wrong with being in Japan :'(

hahaha! tell me about it! as far as i know, infinites release was same day for japan though. I'm sitting in ropponggi tokoyo bummed as hell! opened a ticket with steam. keep brainstorming, ill post if they say anything

Same problem. Also live in Japan w/US account. Tried closing and restarting Steam, logging off/on, and even deleted everything except steamapps and steam.exe from my steam dir. Didn't fix it. Guess I'll go play my complimentary copy of X-com.

So apparently 2K does not care about the official Japanese release date on consoles, only on Steam. If you have a PS3 and US account, you can download Infinite and play just fine from Day-1 Digital on the US PSN store. Whaaaaa?

@ALL go into your Steam Folder: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps" and delete this file "appmanifest_8870.acf". Then Restart your Steam and you should be able to download the game.

And if you did that but it doesn't work then try this link:

And they would be incorrect. If you have a Japanese IP address, you will have to wait until the Japanese release date - it doesn't matter if you have a "US steam" account (no such thing exists by the way) or purchased from another country. Release dates are always based on your current IP address and have been since Mini Ninja's was released.

The only way you can play the game before April is to have a non-Japanese IP address.
