Game crashing after 5-10 minutes
The furthest I've gotten is past the cloud layer overlooking the city in the capsule, then the game just crashes with the ususal "...stopped responding" message. Sometimes it just crashes right in the main menu. It's running at stable 60 FPS with everything maxed, my hardware isn't getting hot in the slightest and there's absolutely nothing indicating that anything else is wrong. Tried verifying game files and updated my gfx drivers, which only seems to have made it worse.

Windows 8 x64
Intel Core i7 2700k at 5GHz
3GB GeForce GTX 580
8GB DDR3 RAM

I really shouldn't have a problem running this, I'm so sick of beta testing triple-A games.

For me disabling the LAN adapter did the trick. I've got the MSI GE 60 Notebook, my LAN card is from Killer. OS is Win7 64-bit. Can confirm that it works on other systems like that too, can't really say anything about other setups... well, can't hurt to try. Hope this helps in any way!
Constant crashes. Hastened to buy.

Windows 7 x64 / Intel Core i7 2700k / 4gb GeForce GT 650M / 16GB DDR3 RAM / latest drivers
I can only play 5-10 minute intervals of the game. It looks like it has something to do with the i7's?
Faster still here - I get the opening 'Developer' animations and it freezes. Exactly... 4.5 seconds in.
Origineel geplaatst door Gollum:
Actually, I get freezes/crashes even faster than you guys. First freeze/crash was when I as choosing difficulty for new game after fiddling with the graphics.
Second was when I did the bells in the lighthouse and was about to sit in the chair.
You just have to turn of your LAN connection if you get a Killet Net Adapter and it worked fine for me.
Same problem here too. Is fine for 10 minutes or so then freezes, black screen, audio keeps playing.. This happens even when I am just standing there. Not just during game actions.
I downloaded the new Nvidia driver 314.22 befiore installing. Nvidia 295, 8 gigs ram.

All I want to know is...is this an Nvidia issue or a Bioshock issue?

crash after crash, getting sick of it.
Turniing off vertical sync helped I played a good 45 minutes ---then it crashed.
There is a problem that 2K Support is looking into with i7 processors.

"We are currently looking into this issue as it may be related to the i7 processor. We should have an update on this issue soon.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Best Regards,

Jordan O."

This is on my support ticket on there website.
It's not just the i7. I'm having the same sort of troubles (game crashes to a black screen, audio gets stuck in an irritating stuttering buzz, and if I'm lucky it then crashes to the desktop) and I've got an AMD Phenom II.

I'm sort of wondering if it's a poor job of optimizing for multiple core processors, but then thats assuming all the other people with said processors who can actually play the bloody game are filthy liars.

It might also be something with steam instead of the game itself, a statement which I base entirely on unfounded rumors, mostly to make myself feel better in some vague way.
for nvidia 500 series cards set the voltage to 1050 in msi afterburner.
I have i7 so there is a known issue? Thats good that they know that. crashed after a half hour that time
Things that haven't worked for me. Once again, i7 40 and a GTX670GC.

> Adjusting graphic settings from ultra low to Ulta high (fps remains at 60 regardless)
> Flashed my bios
> Turned off some TCIP protocalls
> Turned off AO, VS and other various options
> Tried repairing integrity of the files
> Unclocked my GPU

Crashes can happen anywhere from 10 minutes to 5 hours. Maybe I'm lucky? So, I wonder of Irrational are working on a patch. :(
Another crash. Forcing a hard shutdown. lasted about 40 minutes this time.
Somethinng is very wrong. Like others I tried turning off apps, clouds, Tried different settings. Only thing that helped a little was turning off verticla sync.
When the crash happens, no amount of waiting brings it back. Cannot even do crtl-alt-delete, only hard shutdown.

.
It's not a problem with i7's or nvidia cards. The problem is with win7 & win8, either an hardware driver or the os itself.
As mentioned before, i have a similar system to most gamers on here, the one main difference is i'm still using Vista 64. Playing the game on ultra with no problems at all.
