Controller issues
I have an official Xbox wireless controller, a third party receiver and a strange issue. The controller syncs no problem, and I can navigate throught the Big Picture menu no problem. Once I start Bioshock Infinite, it clearly recognises that I want to use the controller, because the menu shows "Press A" instead of "Press Enter." However, the controller is completely unresponsive.

If I use the Guide button I can bring up the Big Picture menu and navigate no problem, so I know that the issue isn't with the PC or the controller. Bioshock, however, doesn't recongise it at all. If I use the mouse to actually start the game, then start using the conroller, the same thing happens - the prompts change to refer to the controller, but it is totally unresponsive.

I've tested the controller on several other games, and they work without a problem.

Any ideas?

Bioshock Infinite does have a few issues with controller support. It's probably best for you to stick with the M + K for now.

That's a shame, I was hoping to pipe it though to my bigscreen. Thanks for replying.

controller support works awesome for me...thats all i use. just go grab the wired xbox controller for 25 bucks. its the best controller for pc gaming...the wireless ones tend to have weird issues sometimes. ;-)

Did you ever get this solved euchrid? I'm having the same problem on a wired xbox controller. Big screen is fine and bioshock recognises the pad but it doesnt work... :S

yeah, my xbox one controller is doing the same thing. Wired in, screen gives directions for buttons, but no response.

Sorry, I never fixed this, played the whole thing with mouse and keyboard.

2K is such bull. They listed "full controller support." Guess thats $20 I'll never get back.

I managed to get it to work by uninstalling my controller driver then letting it auto detect and install on restart. Give that a go, worked for me.

I managed to get the xbox one controller working. When i plugged in my xbox 360 controller it came up as player two. I restarted the computer and made it player one. then i went into control panel, device manager, Humand Interface Devices, and disabled HID - Complaint game controller while it was unplugged. Then I took it out (kept disconnecting because my 360 controller is garabge...)replaced it with xbox one and worked fine.

Well now I regret buying this game. How can you have compatibility issues with the most popular controller on the market?

I shut the computer down and unplugged the XBox controller, since it didn't respond. Set the game to use K+M but the menus still show the XBox buttons.

The mouse pointer will not show unless I hold down the left mouse button. At the very beginning, where you're on the rowboat, the screen keeps turning hard left. It turns your POV left and stays there. I cannot move the screen to climb the ladder.

I was going to buy all the DLC and I'm glad I didn't. This is unforgivable.

I managed to get the controller working somewhat. Problem is, it only recognizes the camera (player) view from the controller and none of the buttons. The strafe function is permanently on, causing you to always go left.

Even if I uninstall the XBox driver, the A-B-X-Y buttons still show in the menus, etc. This is totally bogus. Steam should remove this game from their server.

@Ricebug I am having the same issues. I wonder if this a Windows update issue because it seems like there was an issue in 2015 then its seems like it came back for 2020. There is also now another discussion that just opened (Mar/Apr) detailing the same.
