Black Screen Problem
I bought BioShock a couple of days ago. It ran fine for a while, but now whenever I start it up, all I get is a black screen. I can see the Aspyr, 2K, and Irrational logos, but as soon as I get to the menu, everything goes black. I can hear the buttons on the menu clicking as the cursor hovers over them, but can't see the menu. I can manage to get in to the actual game, but that too is black. However, the options menu shows up easily. This happened two or three times, I restarted Steam, nothing happened. Once I could see the game, but it was tinted red; menu and all. I have a Mac running version 10.9, and an Intel HD Graphics 3000. Newer games than BioShock work just fine, and seeing that it worked for a while I don't think it's a graphics card problem....Any help?

Ok, I found a semi-fix. It resolves the blck screen problem, but doesn't get rid of it entirely. It's also a bit tricky:
1. Make sure the sound is on. Open the game. DO NOT move the cursor.
2. When you get to the main menu, which is black, hit the down arrow key once, then hit enter.
3. This should bring you to the options menu. Remember not to move the cursor! There is no need to move using the arrow keys here, just hit enter.
4. This is the graphics menu. Go down 4 times using the arrow keys. This brings you to Quality.
5. Here's where the experimenting starts. Press the right or left arrow key, then enter. If the screen is still black, repeat this 2 or 3 more times.
It's a fix for it, but it's not perfect. Hopefully we'll get a patch for this soon.

Ahh, I tried this, didn't work out though, thanks anyways. However, I tried something else that did. I went into Documents/My Games/Bioshock Infinite/XGame and i renamed the Config folder to something random. The game started up perfectly fine then, and it just creates a new Config folder for you. May have to set your graphical options again, but it fixes it for me at least.

Hi guys. I`ve been having this exact problem and after 3 days finally figured out solution, that worked best for me. I have Dell Inspieron 15 with HD4400 and GT750M. In Intel graphics and media control panel go to 3D settings and be sure to disable Application optimal mode. Thats it :)
Hope this helps, enjoy :)
