He is what you make him. *shrug* I prefer that method of storytelling over watching a movie unfold through a character's eyes and having to listen to his grunts and random commentary.
I have no idea who the german voice actors are (and if there's someone famous among them), but they nailed the job.
In a way, I share Aezarian's opinion. Booker sounds somewhat younger than he is. Torben Liebrecht, the german voice for Booker who I just looked up, was 35 when recording BSI. He's got a quite sonorous voice that - for my taste - just gives Booker an additional edge of badassness.
Nevertheless, Booker is a frickin' badass, no matter what jibberish he speaks.
Well with only one line of dialogue, that is exactly why he is whatever you want him to be. He doesn't impose himself on the player. You determine who Jack is via your choices. You are in the driver's seat, not Jack. Not a very good comparison though as there really are not very many choices to make in Bioshock.
No, Jack does not have anything on Booker but at the same time Booker is an intrusive element into your game. Booker dictates what you, the player, do. He steers you around - you're choices are limited to what gun Booker happens to be using at any given moment. You happen to like him, ergo, for you, he is not intrusive. I am indifferent to him but very much dislike having him hold my hand and drag me through his story.
As I already said, I much prefer a story about a world as opposed to being stuffed into a single character's shoes in that world. It is a narrowing of scope that I disagree with. I prefer to write my own story rather than have one dictated to me.
