PS4, and Xbox controller not working?

Alright, here is my delimma, I have used my DualShock 4 contoller on every single controller enabled game I have, and it has worked fine. Today, I decided to get Bioshock Infinite, so I can use my controller (I know, for you people who have a little whiney pitty party, thinking that if you are going to use a controller, use it on a console, not the holy grail of a PC. Well, I am broke as hell, and I have a laptop to do this on. Do you have any Idea how uncomfotable it is to do a FPS with a tiny track-pad? Please, refrain from the bashing.) Well, of all games, this is the game my contoller does not want to work on. I go to "Options", only to see that the "Controller" option has been grayed out. I have looked for people with my similar situation, and the only thing I could find is a guy saying he had to use "Xpadder". I am not going to pay more money to fix this. No way. Maybe there is a (safe) free alternitive version? Or is there some configuation file I can alter, or work some magical spell? Thanks in advance.

I think the way you have to look at it pal, is that Bioshock was released on the 3 March 2013 whilst the PS4 was initially released in late november 2013 (forgive me if im wrong) - So ultimatley you are trying to play with a device newer than the actual game. Bioshock Infinite wasn't released for Playstation 4, therefore only the Xbox 360 and Dualshock 3 controllers are programmed to work with the game. Your best option pal is to use a wired PS3 / Xbox 360 controller - I used a wired 360 controller fine when I tried it before and honestly since the next gen consoles were released, they have gone down in price. There isn't any file confirguration i'm aware of atm but there might possibly be some patches online. Sorry pal and I hope this helps :3
