No vigor from Fireman to pick up

In the begining of the game (I just got this and installed it on Arch Linux) you kill your first fireman and are to pick up his vigor. I pick up all his stuff, but a vigor isn't among them. I press the up arrow on my controller to show my next objective, and it points to the lock box I just searched.

The vigor isn't in the lock box. It's on the ground next to it. Also if you still aren't able to find the vigor just continue on, and straight after the next combat encounter there should be a gate leading to a dropoff. Walk through the gate and on the left there should be another bottle of Devil's Kiss.

I restarted from check point (since I closed out of the game before hitting another checkpoint) and the vigor was right in plain sight. Guess it didn't drop.
