Infinite on Linux: Standing ovation!
Congratulations, Virtual Programming! This is just straight up THE most smoothly running "port" to Linux done so far. I am AMAZED by the performance. I gaze in wonder. This is a milestone, the bar is now set for others to follow.

Seriously, Linux gamers out there: THIS is a nobrainer. If you had it in the library already, buy it again. And once more. THIS is how we want to see games run on Linux. THIS is worthy of our dineros.

eON: All is now forgiven after W2. I shall no longer frown upon thee.

(disclaimer: Played on latest stable Nvidia blob)

I am having some problems with stuttering between scenes..slightly irksome when there's lots of action at the time.

I didn't try anything of it, but there are some hints:

Who cares about user reviews... That's as valuable as stopping random people on the street and ask what they think of this game. Bioshock Infinite got an epic metascore of 93, that's what people should care about, if anything.

Actually, user reviews is *exactly* what people contemplating buying a product should care about, not some meaningless number that metacrtic poops out by aggregating other meaningless numbers pooped out by other "review" sites.

By reading user reviews you can usually find out what they liked/disliked about graphics, art style, game mechanics, etc.. That's how you inform yourself, not by gazing at numbers.

Here's a number: 100. Marvel at how round it is :/

I dunno if this is a good or a bad thing but user reviews doesn't have a score attached, they're purely binary in nature. On metacritic you can rate the game from 0 to 10 and critics have 0-100 range but... you know[i.imgur.com], it shouldn't be this broad. Valve probably knows it and that's why they prefer to keep it at the love/hate scale weighting the number of people and (probably) hours invested into a game, not their highly subjective ratings.

I could care less about reviews. Buy the game and see for yourself. Watch gameplay and see if it's something relative to your interests.

i've bought bioshock infinite.

on my notebook the game works great 30-45fps with some drops, my hardware is:

OS: ArchLinux 64bit

CPU: i3 380m 2.53ghz dual core 4 thread

GPU: Nvidia geforce gt540m with bumblebee for optimus support

RAM: 4gb ddr3 1333mhz (limited ad 1066 by CPU)

i play at 1366x768 with low detail and CPU reach max 70° and GPU max 55°

very good work Virtual Programming, thanks a lot, and the game is just released, then they can optimize better the game

If you're talking about motion sickness, try using the FOV slider in the graphics settings.

Exactly motion sickness alot of people complaint about this include me, no matter what setting use there are like a continues lag, 1st i try with a gtx 460, then gtx 660 i gave up, now i have a gtx 970 maybe i would give another try in linux

Care to share details about your system? CPU, GPU, video driver version and display resolution.

Sure. I came to conclusion that it is CPU bound on my system: i5 2500K, GTX 770, 8Gb of mem. 1920x1200. nvidia latest blob. i get 40-50 FPS most of the time, sometimes 30-40. Sometimes nearly 60

Edit: As I read here I tried lowering the ambient occlusion from ultra to normal, and the framerate really doubled. Now I can't really complain about the perfomance any more :)

Runs very well on my system. Using Intel i3 4150 with GTX 750 Nvidia card. Never dropped below 60fps. VP did an awesome job on this.

Thumbs up for VP. I just finished this game on Ubuntu 14.04 on a PC with mid-range specs and it ran flawlessly the whole time. I had a constant 60fps. No freezes or frame drops.

Great job guys.

Thumbs down from my side, at least for future ports. I get pauses when new parts of the scene are loaded, which did not happen on the same PC under Windows.

I don't know man...the game runs just (almost) perfect for me, I mean really, just take a look, you can barely see any stutter, at all:

I welcome and eagerly wait for any future ports from them, they (VP) may be the last chance for some of the older games to have them published on Linux.

But the key word is "older games".
