Do I need to play any of the previous bioshocks to understand this one?
Because I've just played LITERALLY 3 Hours of bioshock 1 and 2, and they STILL Make ZERO Sense.

I played infinite awhile ago before I ever stepped foot on 1 or 2.

If I just forget B1 And B2 completely, and play infinite for longer, will I understand it?

I've completed Infinite a couple of times, but have yet to complete 1 and 2. Anyway, just taking into consideration what comments I have seen, as well as the devs concept...I think just consider Infinite as an alternate version of BioShock. Rather fitting for the way Infinite plays out. Anyway, I think some carries over, but not so much that it matters. Maybe you miss some references in BSI without the first two, but I don't think they are imperative.

Check what Wikipedia says about BioShock Infinite. I really like the game, and some of the information there was interesting for me to read (just yesterday in fact). Maybe it will be for you as well, and help answer some of your questions about relevance, etc.

Maybe cuz the plot doesn't start to unveil itself until it's somewhere halfway through which will take you 6+ hours if you're not rushing the game? I wouldn't consider a mystery-based piece of entertainment brilliant at all if everything could already be figured out when you're only one-fifth into it.

Bioshock 2 is a Story of its own, so there is no need to play that before infinite. In order to understand Infinite you dont have to play any of them. For the BaS dlcs its important to understand Bioshock 1, so you know whats going on in Rapture :possession:

You do not need to play Bioshock 1 or 2 to understand BSI. If you play the Burial at Sea DLC then playing Bioshock 1 beforehand would be a VERY good idea. :bird: sm

3 hours of Bioshock 1 and 2 is enough to play the main game of Bioshock Infinite.

While Burial at Sea contains many spoilers for Bioshock 1.

I recommend playing 1 before Infinite, just because one or two things (no spoilers) will mean more to you. Only 3 hours? The first game takes around 10 to complete, and it isn't until 7 hours in that you start to understand the magnificence of the story.

I completely felt in love with Bioshock 1 on my second replay, becasue my 1st was in a rush, because I wanted to get to Infinity's DLCs asap, but Infinity's DLCs made me to fell in love with Rapture even more and made me want MORE :)
Here's my review to Bioshock 1 http://store.steampowered.com/recommended/recommendgame/7670
I was not going to buy Bioshock 2, but after finishing the DLCs I felt I want to spend much more time in the Bioshock universe.
Right now I'm replaying BI :) Awesome and incredible universe.

If you buy burial at sea dlc - anyone ! - then you must play bioshock 1 and 2 as they will make no sense what so ever and it completes the whole story of all 3 games.

That kinda sucks, becauseI had no intention to play Bioshock 2, but now I might have to...

Bioshock 2 is not essential to understanding the story of Burial at Sea.

But playing Bioshock 1 is recommended.

If you one of the rush-players "i beat the game in 2hrs, pff" then there's no need to worry about replaying any of Bioshocks at all, but if you are really deeply in love with plot, it's quite advisable.

The way I see it, burial at sea comes before Bioshock 1 but tends to tie in with the Infinite universe. So technically, Infinite and 1 tie in real well while Bioshock 2 is what happens after 1 and Infinite
