With all the information companies collect about us you'd think they could look at what languages we speak and not waste 5.1Gb of bandwidth on something many of us will never want/need.
So, you want to force people to play games in their language?
You're no better than this update.
I prefer to play my games in English, because most german "dubs" are horrible.
I'd rather they use the Beta feature of Steam to distribute versions of the game featuring specific language packs, instead of forcing all customers to have all language packs. (At least until Steam implements a better method of accomplishing this)

So you'd have English by default, then German Beta, French Beta etc. which would be the same exact version of the game, but instead of the English language pack, it contains only the language specified... and the users can freely change between them.

Seperate thread devoid of the early angry posts from the other thread, this one also explains what the patch DID, in the first post.

Alternative suggestion: Have the game feature all languages by default and offer language specific betas that feature only that language (With English, amongst others, as a choice).

A 3rd suggestion: Remove the language packs and release them as free DLC for the game.

At least we have the languages i guess, better than not having them at all.

5.1 GB for languages I don't speak. This is pure ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Why are they relaesing this now it makes no sense.
Saw the size and was wondering what was being updated in a single player game so long after its launch. Turns out it's not an update but a localization option that should be with the release game and only installed if those languages are wanted/needed.

Apparently steam have gone the way of consoles and are now forcing people to keep a game up to date if they want to play the thing. Understandable for titles with a multiplayer side but for a single player game this should be optional especially for a game that's been out for a while.

Shame really as I was thinking about going back and playing through the burial dlc to the end.

It's been this way for years (That steam forces you to play the latest version).

Merci j'ai eu aucun probleme j'ai une connection illimité et 6 000 go de disque dur.I play the dlc in French Thanks.
OH LORD GABEN, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN US?
Make it free DLC. Steam lets you choose which DLC you want installed now.

It just makes no sense whatsoever with the available technologies we have. The above solutions are viable, so why do Steam/Irrational force users to max out their hard drives with content they will never see/use?

I agree. That is just waste of space on my computer! I don't have space issues at this moment - but if Steam continues to "force" me to have useless updates (like languages I don't speak nor use), I will soon have!

I have space issues with Steam. My steamapps folder is on a 2TB drive, but if I wanted to install every game I've bought I'd need 4,185.9GB according to mysteamgauge.com

Why am I downloading 5G of data that I don't need, want, and will never use?
Surely this sould have been an optional extra download.
Would be nice for the developers to explain themselves on this issue. 5gb download for languages seem ludicrous when most people probably dont even speak them. Should be optional dlc download content in my opinion.
