bioshock wont run

i installed the game and when i start it, it flashes on the screen and then goes to the task bar. When i click on the task bar icon, the game comes up in progress (start screen) but wont stay up????

Update your gpu or if you have an AMD card install the latest physX from Nvidia website. (google it)

The problem defintely stems from Call of Duty being on your computer. Just kidding, but I would seriously consider upgrading to Windows 7. Vista has had so many issues. Also check your anti virus quarantine to make sure it isn't blocking any executables or scripts from running.

I guess I do have windows 7 and also Direct x 11, along with 4000mg in RAM....I realize my vid card is old..geforce 260m and not upgradeable..any other thoughts???

Your computer specs meet the minimum requirements so that shouldn't be the problem. Have you checked for graphics card updates? When you say the game is on the start screen you mean the Bioshock Infinite starting screen with the people on the balcony? If yes I think I know what the problem is.

hmm, try turning off steam community and see if that helps, if not then try going into your game library in steam and right click on the game and go into properties, select set launch options then type windowed and then ok, should stay fullscreen and stop flashing

my fix was disabling high dpi in properties of the exe . tried overclocked suggestions tried closing msi afterburner disabling 3d vision but high dpi worked for me (i had recently put dpi to 125 per cent)

My graphics card is up to date. When I start the game I it comes up to full screen for a split second then goes down to the task bar. I can hear it starting. Then if I click on the icon on the task bar it brings it up to full again full for a split second or sometimes you see it in the top left corner of the screen at a 1"x1" square. The game is starting. Then you see the people on the balcony. It basically is running but wont stay full screen.

How do you turn off steam community...do you just uncheck the box? Set launch to windowed...no change

daniel dpi settings are via file properties - right click the exe file and select properties - then go to compatability settings - there you will find a dpi setting near the end, apply and try running again
