Did the game seriously get to 40GB?
This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I can't speak for most of you, but I certainly find that a tad excessive. Especially considering that you actually have to download 36GB. Where's the compression at? For the record, I have unlimited bandwidth. I just have a problem with games that are massive and do nothing to curb the problem. 18GB for two DLC packs? Does that really seem normal?

I know they are such an awesome company that their kickass DLC's take up that much space!

Dude, they are freaking high quality DLC's, Irrational wanted to go out with a bang so they did. Now stfu and play the game and be amazed.

I'm not amazed enough to give up 40 GB. I'm fairly sure that's more than Skyrim/ARMA 3.

Compress what? Textures and Audio require most of the space and you can't compress them all that much without loosing quality.

Not to mention that people would complain if after a download Steam would cause a 100% CPU load for half an hour or whatever. And for what? A 10% smaller download?

The bigger the game, better chances it will be beautifully detailed and well-built/solid. That's what I find anyway, haven't proved myself wrong yet. This game is a perfect example. Why do you assume everyone would want their masterpiece of a world compressed?

Unhappy about the size? Oh, well, your loss. No one's forcing you. Come back when you're ready for next-gen, btw this isn't even it.

So you got a great net connection. No problem for you.... Either you live in europe or asia (so cheap fast internet) and so i can sort of forgive you, but if ur in the U.S then shame on you.

Disk space is absolutely no problem here or around the world. Its suuuuper cheap. 60-100 USD for 2TB of storage. Meanwhile decent net speeds cost 80 bucks a month (comcast 30mbps for 80 bucks way behind the rest of the world for the price).

I can understand your want for compression but this isnt a Playstation or Xbox, you have unlimited storage space. The point of pc gaming is superior graphics and moddability which equal more space taking up your drive. Its what its for. Who complains about storage space in this day and age, for thier PC no less?

Awesome? Yes. 8 Hours? More like 2 and a half. about 4 hours if you include episode 1.

I've spent 4 hours in BaS already and I just picked up Old Man Winter. It all depends on how to the point you like to play. Myself, I'm going to enjoy Irrational's last Bioshock slow and easy :D

I did the same though. Full stealth, got 20/25 audio logs, looked through every room, hell I took a screenshot of nearly every poster and book around. I struggled to get the DLC to last even close to 3 hours.

:cage:The main reason that it got up to 40GB is that unlike the majority of games that come out now a days this game decided to make one of their big focuses the graphic styles. One of the things that people always say when they play bioshock for the first time is "wow, this game looks incredible" it is argueably one of the best looking games that is available right now but the down side to having a game looks as great as it does is that the size of every texture, model, background, and animation becomes very large in size. As for why each DLC was around 9GB it was because if you look at either of the episodes you will see that around 80-85% of the world was made just for the DLC, they didn't just reskin Columbia or port over Rapture from bioshock 1 and 2, they made Rapture from scratch. As a result it had to have tons of new models and what not meaning a bunch of large files. As for why both DLC were equally as big it was a result of the DLC both being available individually meaning that you could buy part 1 but not part 2 or part 2 and not part 1; this meant that they had to include all the files for Rapture in each DLC because they can't provide a different download to those who already had one part vs those who didn't have either. I would have been nice to have been able to have part 2 use part 1's files but the fact that they are available individually meant that they had to send both parts with their own files even if they overlapped. :bird:
