Story of many modern AAA games, to be honest. A lot of them have (what used to be) mid-table playabilty at best.
If you are, it's one of the best games ever.
But it had flaws for me. I didnt play on for some weeks but the beginning impressed me so i gave it a try and played on.
Maybe you're just saturated with gaming at all. That's normal when they are saitisfying enough, especially when getting older* when priorities begin to change (in the end of the second life-decade ppl begin to change the point-of view from hedonism to pragmatism and gaming makes no pragmatic sense [Thats what already Aristoteles recognized concerning friendship]).
Give it time and it might come back.
Another possibility is that you are kind of ill. You can observe that on higher animals too: (mental) sickness, or insecurity takes the will to play; healthy adults (eg dogs and cats) like to play theyr whole life but not all day anymore.
* It is even normal for children. When i was young i didnt play sega/snes all day even if i could. rather just one or two hours or on rainy days. And that's not because the games were worse (but most not as addicting, cause not as causual but thats not the main reason). It is rather natural. Teenagers are special cases, beeing much more depended to feelings and deciting only with them.
Did you try Bioshock 1 ?
I bought the tripple pack, the first minutes were quiete impressive and I was looking for the story but the shooting gameplay itself was quiete a let down after 3 hours already. Reminds more on a too easy colorful lollipop shooter and everywhere drops ammo or whatever. Will get back to Infinite after I finished Bioshock first.
Anyway, I started playing Bioshock 1 and I was a lot more hooked, because the amtosphere is just better and more exciting, the AI is more dangerous and interesting, you can interact with the game more i.e. throwing around stuff with telekinese- melteing ice - setting oil on the ground on fire. Overall just more gameplay options.
Hacking is big in Bioshack aswell, either secret areas/safes or robots and turrets.
I was expecting new enemies and player tactics, new ways of using powers and weapons and instead what you've got is soaking bullet enemies with OP weapons and at the same time, weak player powers and weapons.
I mean, WTF people? This is the actual notion of "difficulty"?
One thing I liked about Bioshock 1 and 2 is that you can chose about using weapons, powers or a combination of the two. I played the two Bioshock trying this, only using weapons, only using powers and mixing the two, you can play the way you want.
Infinite on the other hand has a very restricted type of gameplay: you have to use powers, is extremely difficult beat the game only using weapons for example.
On the other hand the story is fairly good in my opinion, I really love it.
Infinite gave me no issues and was the first Bioshock game I played. Having played through 1 I do miss the fact that you can keep more than 2 guns with you and the Plasmid/Vigour system has been dumbed down a a bit since 1. Also missed the hacking.
As a shooter though (and I'll likey get shot down for this) the gameplay in Bio 1 at least felt a lot more tedious to me. Most of the splicers go down in one shot (on normal at least).
The characterisation in Infinite is much better too. I enjoy the interaction with Liz, and like the guy above said, that makes or breaks the game for the player really.
Well now, I just completed a game the second time, but on the PC. I must say that I instantly found myself hooked to the game as soon as I sat down and took my time with it. I guess maybe the graphical quality, perhaps the smoothness of the gameplay soaked me in? I also noticed that 2nd time around, the story seemed to make a little more sense than on my first playthrough on the PS3. Maybe that's another reason why I found myself heavily interested than before.
