well... have to play burial at sea yet
The setting, lore, environments, and lighting are superb, and I actually prefer Infinite's big, open backdrops over the original ones, but combat feels tedious and I wished they used a different voice for Comstock, someone with more volume or power I guess, or one who can command more respect. I couldn't take him seriously as a villain the entire game because his lines sounded like they were delivered by an average guy trying to sound preachy. Everyone else's voices were fine though.
Last thing that bothered me were the animations. Elizabeth doesn't move realistically so my attention kept going to all her unnatural motions such as when her hand clipped through her chest during one of the Warden's attacks or when she grabbed Booker's hand and placed it on her neck. The way she moves doesn't look quite right, and I wish they had used motion capture for those scenes. Then again, her design is very Disney-esque, so maybe they were going for a more cartoony look. This also applies to some of Booker's arm animations but they aren't as distracting.
Overall great game for the settings, graphics, and maybe the story too, but not necessarily for the gameplay.
I think a lot of people were just mesmerised by the graphics - which were excellent!
that one Youtube critic adam sessler or whatever his name is - put this game up there with the likes of Half-Life or System Shock. Not even close
Again the first 2 games in the series I can make a good argument for being up there but the 3rd?
I think the game fell victim to a premature release. They had a lot of cool ideas and non-linearity to show us before the game came out, but it was all cut for some reason or another. Just another piece of evidence against annualization I suppose.
And BTW Clockwork Undertaker, how exactly do you know that a majority of the people feel that BSI fell short of the standards people were expecting? Did you do a poll or something of all the players? sm
Um yeah i did, Digital Design course in college, poll campus-goers on their opinions of new releases of older gen games. Did one for Infinite and DMC, everyone hated them.
And come on dumb ♥♥♥♥ 15 minutes online in a game forum and you find people out the ass who hated Infinite. So even if i didnt do a poll, still not hard to tell that the game was over hyped and then disliked.
I guess they never taught you about getting a diverse sampling of subjects for surveys. As for going on forums. if you really knew anything about people on forums you would know that the people that dislike something are going to make a LOT more noise than the people that like it. Of course that does not even include the haters. So no, you didn't get anything like a real accurate look at if people liked or disliked BSI. You just went and found other people that supported your own position. The technical term is Servey Bias by the way. sm
A. 300 random people from around a college campus? Someone correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure that counts as your "Diverse Sampling."
B. Of course people on forums are going to ♥♥♥♥♥ about something they dont like, thats sorta of the point of the forum. However, as you have so kindly demonstrated, i whiny little ♥♥♥♥♥'s opinion still counts as a valid statistic. And if the game was as wonderfull as its made out to be you would be seein posts everywhere about it. However if no one is voiceing that point then there is no way to collect data on it. So since we arent finding forums full of positive comments and we are finding the negatives ones we can only run statistics on the existing figures. So unless you can just pull valid figures out of your ass, we can only logically arrive at the conclusion that BSI was not the great game the hype made it out to.
C. I simply went out and found the existing opinions, the fact that the happended to coincide with mine is nothing more than radom probability and coincidence. So i believe the technical term here is your and uneducated ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ c*nt.
As for education, it's clearly better than yours since I when someone points out I made a mistake I check my facts and don't go being insulting to cover up the fact that I screwed up. Have a nice day. sm
Decided to play Bioshock 1 again and could not believe what I missed out on. Should have stuck to it a little longer originally. After that went straight on to Bioshock 2 (plus the DLC) and enjoyed it even more.
Looking back at Infinite now it really is sad how badly it turned out. I long for a real Bioshock 3, not this "streamlined" experience with all the good stuff cut out.
What is even more annoying is the metacritic score it got.
Either most people have really bad taste or I am certified insane. Perhaps I should commit myself.
This is, for me, the most overrated game I can remember to date.
