Infinite sucked
I ended up buying the 3 games because the ratings were so high and because they were on sale when I bought them. I was completely blown away by the first game. I am not exhaggerating at all - I remember sitting there with a ♥♥♥♥ eating grin on my face at times during the game thinking - wow - this game is amazing. And for you information it was in 2014 when I played them all one after the other for the first time.

Second installment Bioshock 2 was next and again I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Again there were moments when I had a ♥♥♥♥ eating grin on my face saying wow what a game. Nearing the end of Bioshock 2 I was beginning to really look forward to the newest installment due its ratings and rave reviews. And after playing the first 2 games I fully expected to love Infinite too - but it fell FAR short of my expectation and frankly I'm shocked (no pun intended) so many highly respected critics were fooled by pretty graphics and slightly different gameplay. But was it really that different of gameplay? It's not anything new. It's just packaged up with a pretty red bow and blue stripes over white.

Am I the only one who was disappointed with this game? Tedius collecting of silver dollars and lockpicks (never ran out) and linear maps were boring. Let me be clear - this game wasn't terrible - I mean I played the whole thing so that says something for one. And as a standalone game I'd have found it interesting - but why bother brand it as Bioshock at all? It basically had nothing to do with Bioshock 1 and 2 - yes at the end they forcefed us some kind of storyline circuit to come full circle - but it didn't work. As a standalone game I might have found it fun and interesting but in falls FAR behind the original 2 games in my opinion.

I can't give the devs enough credit on the games 1 and 2 feel lucky to have experienced such elite entertainment. But if you haven't played infinite - expect a completely different experience than the first 2. You might love it- although I don't know why- but it's not going to be anything like the founding masterpiece(s)

just my 2c

I just wonder if I'm in the minority here or do some of you agree that the 3rd Bioshock was boring as a mayonaise sandwich.

I finished infinite yesterday, the only thing I did not like was that there is no rapture at least in the cameo, and the whole multiverse thing is good but unnecesary.

well... have to play burial at sea yet

Just finished the game about 30 minutes ago. I think it would have been better as a book or movie, but that's just my opinion. Haven't finished the first Bioshock but the second one was pretty interesting, if a bit claustrophobic like the first one.

The setting, lore, environments, and lighting are superb, and I actually prefer Infinite's big, open backdrops over the original ones, but combat feels tedious and I wished they used a different voice for Comstock, someone with more volume or power I guess, or one who can command more respect. I couldn't take him seriously as a villain the entire game because his lines sounded like they were delivered by an average guy trying to sound preachy. Everyone else's voices were fine though.

Last thing that bothered me were the animations. Elizabeth doesn't move realistically so my attention kept going to all her unnatural motions such as when her hand clipped through her chest during one of the Warden's attacks or when she grabbed Booker's hand and placed it on her neck. The way she moves doesn't look quite right, and I wish they had used motion capture for those scenes. Then again, her design is very Disney-esque, so maybe they were going for a more cartoony look. This also applies to some of Booker's arm animations but they aren't as distracting.

Overall great game for the settings, graphics, and maybe the story too, but not necessarily for the gameplay.

You never know if you like it until you play it. The rating and the fact that the first 2 games were great - it was a safe bet this game would be great too. It just wasn't as great as it's elite critic score shows. Hey if you liked it great - I was less than impressed with #3. But #1 and #2 were as good as a game can be

I think a lot of people were just mesmerised by the graphics - which were excellent!

that one Youtube critic adam sessler or whatever his name is - put this game up there with the likes of Half-Life or System Shock. Not even close

Again the first 2 games in the series I can make a good argument for being up there but the 3rd?

Derp. How can you possibly know if you will like the game if you don't play it? It was the next installment in a series of games he liked, so buying it was a no brainer. Now having finished it and come away disappointed, he has every right to give justifiable criticism.

I think the game fell victim to a premature release. They had a lot of cool ideas and non-linearity to show us before the game came out, but it was all cut for some reason or another. Just another piece of evidence against annualization I suppose.

You arent the minority. Infinite definetly fell short of the standards people were expecting. The first two games made such an impression on the generation that even all these years later they are still making a splash. I agree that it would have been a good game as a stand alone title completely seperate from the Bioshock series, but trying to loop it in with such an iconic classic is quite frankly insulting. It seems like all the hype the game gets comes from the current generation of little douchey kid gamer. However to people like me that grew up playing the orginals, after waiting 5(?) years for a new installment, Infinite was both insulting as well as highly dissapointing

I know a lot of people who liked BSI. And I liked it as well. If a game is not to your tastes, it not to your tastes. That does not mean it sucked. It was a different type of game from the last ones and focused much more on the relationship between the two main characters.

And BTW Clockwork Undertaker, how exactly do you know that a majority of the people feel that BSI fell short of the standards people were expecting? Did you do a poll or something of all the players? sm

Do you REALLY need to answer that question?

As a person who played all three games and doesn't have short memory, BSI is practically a copy of BS2 in term of gameplay.

Looks like you were the victim of overhype. The way you talk about the first two games,it's obvious that Infinite was never going to live up to your expectations.

Um yeah i did, Digital Design course in college, poll campus-goers on their opinions of new releases of older gen games. Did one for Infinite and DMC, everyone hated them.
And come on dumb ♥♥♥♥ 15 minutes online in a game forum and you find people out the ass who hated Infinite. So even if i didnt do a poll, still not hard to tell that the game was over hyped and then disliked.

I guess they never taught you about getting a diverse sampling of subjects for surveys. As for going on forums. if you really knew anything about people on forums you would know that the people that dislike something are going to make a LOT more noise than the people that like it. Of course that does not even include the haters. So no, you didn't get anything like a real accurate look at if people liked or disliked BSI. You just went and found other people that supported your own position. The technical term is Servey Bias by the way. sm

A. 300 random people from around a college campus? Someone correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure that counts as your "Diverse Sampling."

B. Of course people on forums are going to ♥♥♥♥♥ about something they dont like, thats sorta of the point of the forum. However, as you have so kindly demonstrated, i whiny little ♥♥♥♥♥'s opinion still counts as a valid statistic. And if the game was as wonderfull as its made out to be you would be seein posts everywhere about it. However if no one is voiceing that point then there is no way to collect data on it. So since we arent finding forums full of positive comments and we are finding the negatives ones we can only run statistics on the existing figures. So unless you can just pull valid figures out of your ass, we can only logically arrive at the conclusion that BSI was not the great game the hype made it out to.

C. I simply went out and found the existing opinions, the fact that the happended to coincide with mine is nothing more than radom probability and coincidence. So i believe the technical term here is your and uneducated ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ c*nt.

Thanks for proving my point Clockwork. Your "sampling" of people was from a very narrow age group, with similar tastes in games and most of the them are probably from the same geographical area. That's NOT how you do a proper survey. It would be no surprise if a lot of the people in your "survey" where CoD or CS players. BSI would not be a game they would apt to like. This is a perfect demonstration of Survey Bias.

As for education, it's clearly better than yours since I when someone points out I made a mistake I check my facts and don't go being insulting to cover up the fact that I screwed up. Have a nice day. sm

Totally agree. I played Bioshock 1 years ago but never finished it... Got Infinite in the sale, and although was drawn in at first, the gameplay quickly fell flat when combat started. Kind of forced myself to finish it in the end.
Decided to play Bioshock 1 again and could not believe what I missed out on. Should have stuck to it a little longer originally. After that went straight on to Bioshock 2 (plus the DLC) and enjoyed it even more.
Looking back at Infinite now it really is sad how badly it turned out. I long for a real Bioshock 3, not this "streamlined" experience with all the good stuff cut out.
What is even more annoying is the metacritic score it got.
Either most people have really bad taste or I am certified insane. Perhaps I should commit myself.
This is, for me, the most overrated game I can remember to date.
