No intro movie? Did I miss something??
Just bought Bioshock Infinite, and I'm a lot confused.

There was no intro movie and no real back story, nothing to help me understand what the story is about. There was the scene in the boat, at which point I'm already confused, as I have no idea who the character is I'm playing or where he's going. Half an hour into the game, and I'm running around shooting police officers in a city in the sky - I still have no clue what the plot is about.

Did I miss something? Was there supposed to be an intro movie or something?

Or should I just keep playing? Maybe the back story is coming later?

Very confusing.

The story is revealed as the game goes on. sm

It is supposed to start like that. The player knows as much about what is going on as Booker does.

Keep an eye out for voxophone audio logs, which can give more information about the story.

Does he know why he's on a boat, going to a lighthouse? I assume he know who he is, but I've been playing for hours now, and I don't even know that.

The audio logs don't add up to anything coherent.

I think I'm done with this game now.

The story comes together at the end of the game. Why would the story end in the middle of the game? sm

Most good storytellers (in movies, books or games) would spend at least a little time introducing the character(s) and providing a background story, so you can relate. Why would I sit through an entire book, movie or game, confused and/or bored, waiting for it to make sense at the end? (yeah, I know, road movies - I've never seen one yet that grabbed me. I guess that format simply doesn't work for me...)

Lot's of great movies start off with an opening sequence which doesn't explain much about the character, the first 10 minutes of Raiders of the Lost Ark is my favorite opening sequence from any movie, and as the film progresses even then you don't learn a great deal about Indy, pretty much every James Bond movie opens with a 10-15 minute crazy shooty action sequence and then you learn more later on about the story but not a great deal about the character, Inception also opens with a cool but confusing opening sequence and then you learn as you go along. These are all fun movies, not everything has to follow the path you're describing to be enjoyable. Play the game, it will make sense as you go along

Even TV shows like The Walking Dead just start off in the middle of an apocalpyse and you know nothing about the characters, Breaking Bad is my fave tv show ever, the opening sequence is crazy but it makes sense later on when you learn about the characters

Bring us the girl, and wipe away the debt.

Holy **** .... just play the damn game and you will be answered, you knowing nothing at the beggining is what keeps you interested in the story, it is called mystery. Have you ever watched Pulp Fiction? Memento? Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? Have you ever watched any good movie or read any good book?

No, he does not know much, in fact, most of what he thinks as a fact is not. He doesn´t even really know why he is in debt.

LOL! I just saw .... you said you played for hours, but you barely have 0.6 hours in game, half an hour in the damn game and you expect to understand the whole thing ..... hahahahaha go and play your generic story game if that makes you happy.

I don't know why it shows 0.6 hours, I played for a couple of hours. How would I have played past the first boss in 0.6 hours? I think I must have spent almost half an hour just gawking at the graphics in the water temple you land in first, heh ;-)

PS, we have something in common, after all - Pulp Fiction, Memento and Eternal Sunshine are some of my favorite movies of all time.

Maybe I'll give the game another chance one of these evenings...

The game explains why he is going to the lighthouse like 2 minutes after the beginning. He has to find a girl to pay his debt. You'll understand the plot as the game goes on.
It's explained with all the events and with the many audio logs if you want to have more clues.
