BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite

View Stats:
Disk Space Required: 42 GB !?!
Not too long ago, I downloaded and played the base BiosShock Infinite game. I believe the size of that was something around 17GB (vague memory). Foolishly, when I was done, I deleted the content while waiting for the Season Pass to go on sale. Well, it did and I did. So, now I was thinking of downloading the whole thing and finishing it. Except, when I go to do that, I see:

Disk Space Required: 42,252 MB

Is that actually correct? The full game takes about 42 GB of disk space? Or, is it that the game files take some percentage of that and the rest is what's needed while the game is running?

Well, on the download page, it shows 36.5 GB as the total to be downloaded. So, the download is just a touch better than expected. I assume there's some compression going on somewhere. So, I guess it'll be about 42 GB of disk space.

I remember (back in the day) getting our very first hard drive in a computer at work: 5 MB.

Yes. For me, the game takes 42486 MB with all DLCs. So yeah, that's a lot of disk usage.

After the download was complete, I checked the BioShock Infinite folder under the Steam/SteamApp/Common directory: 44.3 GB

It's due to the high-resolution textures of the Burial DLCs.

In my case, it wasn't a lack of disk space. It was a lack of partition space. I ended up decreasing the size of my Windows partition, moving all my Linux partitions down, and then increasing the size of my Linux /home directory so I could fit the game in. A bit of a pain, but I had an opportunity to learn new things :) .

Ah, just opened a warning thread because of that: You have to reinstall the complete game! With me, it was the old 17GB+ and some 4GB boiling down to 21GB on Win7 to download (compressed so).
