Not wanting to sound like a wet blanket but sureley in 2013, I find it hard to believe that a dev could use these as a healthy option, being a smoker for most of my adult life and now paying the price and still enjoy a drink, why not use bread or bananas or apples?

for one thing, cigarettes give an energy boost when you take them - Nicotine does.
Secondly, after ww2 my people imported a few oranges etc for christmas here in Sweden. Thats how rare they were to get a hold of, you had to pre.order a f'ing orange in months advance.
Yes, we look at fruit today and think you could buy them anywhere for cheap. Most people only could afford fruits at special occasions, so bananas,orange etc wasnt common at all - and especially not in the early 20's.

Wow. You sir are an obnoxious, pompous ass. We are very happy that you realise said implications of smoking and drinking heavily. Good for you. He wasn't talking about that. He was merely expressing a design flaw that cigarettes are in no way healthy. Why they are portrayed as anything less than damaging is beyond me and clearly him. Furthemore, bragging about your smoking and drinking exploits is nothing short of idiotic. Clearly you havent realised what smoking actually does to your body, nor the chemicals that actually go into your bloodstream and tissue. Maybe, if you're not too busy throwing big words around, you should go look that up.

Don't mind them, as someone who doesn't drink or smoke (well, not anymore) I can understand your point although within the setting of the game and the fact that they actually "kill" you ( - HP), they are actually portrayed as unhealthy.
