Cut Lockpicking content?
So has anybody else noticed that lockpicks are pretty scarce in the beginning, specifically up to the point where you get shock jockey, but from then onwards there isn't much to lockpick and the actual lockpicks themselves are ridiculously common. Most people end up with the max, 30, by the time they are in the bank, and there are about 6 or 7 that have to be left behind due to this. What further intrigues me is that the lockpick counter has three digits, but the max is 30. I could understand 99, but 30? Why such a random number? The whole thing feels to me like they planned to make really intricate stashes later on in the game but either ran out of time or forgot about it. It seems there are maybe 50 or 60 lockpicks needed in the game, but at least 100 scattered around. This leaves enough to open every single lock and still have max, with some left over. This is rather disappointing, as finding lockpicks to open rare and valuable stashes was a feature that really excited me in this game. To make it even worse, elizabeth points out the locations of every lockpick you missed just in case you did not have enough.

What's worse is that in a lot of places there really isn't that great of stuff so you have lock picks that are basically useless.

Well, a lot of infusions and voxophones are hidden by lockpicks. Every stash has either a voxophone, infusion, or clothing gear, along with (usually) silver eagles, healing, and ammo

I can't remember them all off the top of my head but there is one building, it's white, i think it's the level with Lady Comstock's ghost i'm not 100% sure. Anyway, this white building has a lock on it and there is nothing inside but an elevator that's on fire. I don't really care about anything other than infusions, even money isn't that important after awhile...the play through i have now i'm at like 3,000 eagles...it's easy when you don't spend on stuff you don't need or want. Having played before i know what gear i like and will use so once i get it i don't bother getting others. Healing and ammo can be bought if needed.

Ya, I forgot about this feature. I'm in the bank now and I tried to pick up a lock pick but I couldn't, kept mashing the button thinking something was wrong until I realised I had 30 already.

My first playthrough I barely had enough for Soldier's Field and had to leave one safe unopened, by the time I was near the ending (obviously didn't know it at the time) I reached the max LP's and I got excited at the process of now being able to open anything I wanted... Only to realise there was nothing more to unlock.
My second playthrough I was more careful and knew that there surely must have been enough LPs in Soldier's Field to open everything. But I also maxed my LP's out much quicker. Granted I did buy some LP's from that one vending machine that sells them. Mostly out of fear I'll run out during those early parts.

I never had that issue. They are hidden in pretty obvious locations if you know game dev hiding techniques. If you see a big bunch of crates, a lot of stuff messed up, or a dark corner, you can be sure there is something nearby. I know you do not have enough to lockpick *at the time* you reach soldier's field, but on your way back from hall of heroes you should have sufficient lockpicks to access all the safes. From that point onwards in the game, I always had a large supply that was never used. Also, playing burial at sea right now...pretty happy to see that every lockpick I have found so far has been used. Maybe I was right, and they just never got the time to hide more stuff in the normal game.
