Getting stuck on static meshes?
Hello.

I played and beat this game on hard back when it was released and enjoyed it. Yesterday I decided it was finally time for a second playthrough on 1999 mode and have been having some strange issues that I don't remember occuring the first time around.

Basically, during play, I keep randomly getting stuck on static meshes such as boxes, chairs, tables, etc. No matter how I duck, run, or jump (even tried detonating traps on myself), I can't become unstuck and have to restart from the last checkpoint.

I can understand this happening a few times throughout the game, especially for those who explore every nook and cranny, but the frequency with which I'm experiencing this problem is beyond normal.

I haven't even been able to reach Elizabeth yet because I'm restarting every checkpoint at least twice, and on one occaision, 4! times (all in different spots) because of getting stuck. Things that don't even look like you can get stuck on, I get stuck on. It's not like I'm trying to clip into the environment -in most cases I'm just trying to collect a wallet or some salts on a surface. Right now, the combat is easy and having to restart isn't a huge problem ...but later on, after completing some difficult fights, restarting every checkpoint will become frustrating to the point that I doubt I'll finish the game.

Is there a console I can unlock to use a command like noclip or does the engine have a natural way to rectify being stuck that I can initiate during gameplay if it happens? Something in the settings I can adjust?

Like I said, I beat this game before back in 2013 or so and never had problems like this.

I doubt it's relavent to my problem but my specs are: i7-6700K@4GHz, 32GB RAM, TITAN X (Pascal)

You would need Cheat Handler to get a no clip. I would run an Integrity Check of the Local Game Cache. It's possible some files got currupted and is the cause of the problem. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

I ran an integrity check but didn't find a problem. Thanks though. After reaching Battleship Bay, my issue has seem to have gone away. I'm not getting stuck in between or on things anymore. I hope it stays this way. Maybe restarting the game did it. Really strange.

Have you checked your internet connection? Most of the problems go away when you reach the syphon.
