Which Bioshock should I buy?
Alright, so, I'm thinking about buying one of the Bioshock games. I've heard a lot of good things about the franchise, but I have a few questions I was hoping someone who's played the game could answer :)

1. I've seen that there are mixed reviews on the remastered versions of 1 and 2, so is it worth getting one of them?

2. Can the games be played separately, or will the stories be heavily tied to each other?

3. I'm a huge fan of the fallout series, and a friend of mine said Fallout and Bioshock is similar. Is that true?

4. Graphics are sort of important to me. If I were to buy Infinite (which is the one that looks the best to me at the moment), would the graphics be good compared to the remastered versions of 1 and 2?

5. 1 is tagged with "choices matters", but not 2 or infinite. Is that just tagging that's f***d, or are 2 and infinite less open to consequences?

6. Is there a character creation, or do you play as a set character?

~Thanks for your help, guys!

I'll try to answer you questions.

1. For the remastered versions i don't know, i bought the bundle when it was on sale and i got the original games and the remastered versions, i played only the original games.

2. Bioshock 1 and 2 share the same story, infinite is a separate one. If you want to buy only one i suggest to take the first or infinite.

3. I didn't play fallout, but they are not similar, bioshock isn't an open world game, you can't create your charachter. There are some RPG elements in how you build your character.

4. Yes, Infinite has better graphics than the other 2 games.

5. In the first game your choices have consequences on the story ending. In bioshock 2 i dnt know exactly(didn't finished it yet). Infinite isn't open to consequences.

6. No character creation.

2. Bioshock 1 and 2 should be played in order, but Bioshock Infinite can be played separately, even though it does contains nods to the earlier games.

But the Bioshock Infinite DLC “Burial at Sea” does contain spoilers for Bioshock 1.

3. The Bioshock games hark back to an earlier era, in a similar way that the Fallout series does. There is also period music as well.

4. On one level, the art direction of Infinite is amazing, but it was limited by the fact that it also had to run on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

The graphics of Bioshock 1 and 2 have aged well and have a great style, just keep in mind that Bioshock 1 was released back in 2007.

5. Choices definitely matter in Bioshock 2, as there are multiple endings to be seen, depending on the decisions you make.

6. There is no character creation, but you can choose which powers to unlock as you play though the game in Bioshock 1 and 2.

I would start with Infinite. Then play the first and second. I was just thinking about this the other day actually as im getting pretty into Infinite right now. I played the originals on Xbox when they initially released, and tried some of the remastered on PC. Infinite is so much more relaxing and welcoming if that makes sense, not to mention refreshingly beautiful. The Rapture (1&2) story is darker and more compicated and difficult imo.
