It plays well, very fluid, fast paced and has a lot of awesome upgrading systems so that you can truly fine tune your character and build, unlike in Dragon’s Crown where you’re fairly limited and have to rely solely on drops being what you need/want.
The only thing I don’t like about the game is that you can’t put together a party, in MP, and just keep going on dungeon after dungeon. You have to remake the lobby after each dungeon and coordinate a “PW” with everyone. It eats up a little time, but very much worth the effort.
There are also no micro transactions, you unlock those things by just playing the game. They did a really great job at converting this game into a pay once and enjoy experience.
And most importantly- it runs very well on my high-end desktop and equally as great on my 4ish year old MSI gaming laptop. I wish I had a Potato to try, because I assume it’s very well optimized.
If you get it, I hope you have a blast
if not you should do ^^
but i wonder it is still grindy game, or you done within like 20 hours of game time?
I do not work for them. I’m just incredibly pleased with the game. It is very fun and if able, I’d like to pass along the joy it brings me to others, especially if they are on the fence.
I can see it being grindy if you min/max, but I also don’t think that will be necessary to “clear” the game. The loot system is very deep, but it’s also only there if you want to explore it. Obviously the better gear you have the easier time you will have defeating enemies, but I think simply keeping a basic armor/weapon setup for the current chapter is enough to clear without trouble - it’s a relaxing experience but you can get in-depth, real quick if you wanted to.
I played 4.2 hours last night. I cleared chapter 1 & 2 and spent a lot of time grinding the pets from the first 3 MP levels with a friend. I think there are 8 chapters and 16 MP dungeons. There are also several characters, even without the DLC, to level up and play as. I feel like this is a game I will pick up and play for a long time. I enjoy a good grinding experience though, especially in a game like this where they also help you get the stats on gear you want, without everything being completely random.
Well, at least we have something akin, because Dragon's Crown WASN'T released here, ever.
You should try The Vagrant too, it's a very good game.
Seconded! I am working on my 2nd playthrough of The Vagrant. This game has put that on hold though.
I want to pick this game up eventually but my backlog's still stupidly huge and I've already got Dragon's Crown for the 3rd time for dat 4k gudness which I only have 2 level 99 characters with 120hrs ish between these 2 alone and I still haven't even done ultimate mode on them yet. Not expecting that much of play time with this game but then again this is probably an online only game so it'll probably expand more so than DC.
Its story is single player.
Nexon is awful. It sucks that they keep getting these good games and running them into the ground with cash items.
Man, I've been with them since the Maplestory days since 2005 and it'll always be one thing or another that will make people quit eventually. So many of those reasons are because of how stubborn and dense the publisher is even outside of the cash shop and greedy cash grabs like being non-responsive to most support tickets for weeks or even months when people's accounts are being hacked or wrongfully banned due to faulty automatically ban trigger systems, not doing much against rampant bot hackings or gold farming which destroys ingame economies, blaming the playerbase itself when there are low activity in a game before killing it off and censoring a good majority of their playerbase even when they have valid criticism against them with all of this FUD bullcrap they keep spouting on the forums.
I been looking for something similar to VanillaWare games because after finishing Odin's Sphere on PS2 ended up buying again on PS3 then moved to Dragon's Crown and love how the game was made graphics, music, style was something that made me miss this type of games.
After I moved away from consoles decided to look here for Dragon's Crown or any type of game that would be similar to it, and found Dragon Spear and thank you god is a nice game, while they both play in a similar fashion and artwork, to call it a clone I don't think that is the case, its like saying most sports, fps or adventure games are clones of others.
Dragon Spear has a lot to offer when it comes to changing characters looks, gear, skills and such you even get pets, I'm not saying that either game is better than the other, they both similar in certain aspects but you can tell they are totally different games.
So if you miss playing something that resembles Dragon's Crown get Dragon Spear!
