Losing hands are sometimes awarded wins of a split pot if they go all-in before anyone else, and stuff like that. It's basic Hold'em rules which I'm positive you already know well, just saying to clear up potential confusion.
What you're likely seeings is if one player has more chips then another in a multiway all in they will be winning side pots that a player with a better hand didn't have the chips to participate in.
