The only thing not compatible is the in-game friends list. If you are a steam user, you can only see your steam friends. If you are an oculus user, you can only see your oculus friends. So you can't directly invite your friends to games, nor will it highlight them as a friend when you look for them on the table list.

But as others have said. You can still play with them. You just need to coordinate outside of the game to meet up. There are multiple "Lobby" servers, not just the one you spawn into. So you aren't guaranteed to find them there.
