Black screen at startup

When i start PS VR i see the logo PS is loading and after that everything is black. I hear music, but nothing on screen. What can i do?

Hey Yzord, sorry for the inconvenience. Please ensure you have a solid wifi connection with the headset and if problems persist, please try re-installing the game, you won't lose any progress.

unfortunately, you have the same problem as a few select of us have that still has not gotten fixed since 8 months ago. i haven't been able to play the game once because of that problem and i was told 2 months ago that it would be sorted out. It feels like it has been shrugged off. hopefully you will be able to play in the near future, as for I am stuck in this limbo state. Good Luck!

i sorted it out. I installed a vpn and now it works. Guess it has to do with the restrictions

its so sad. since a couple of weeks, it does not start on my Index. on the pc it runs well, but on my glasses, I see only black and my fpsVR tool. while starting, the logo appears in the glasses, after a while the circled room is visible for a short time. after that, the booom sound comes and the pokerstarsvr logo apears again. for a couple of seconds. then, it runs windowed on PC and in the glasses, as i described first. i had same problem with Sansar. in sansar it is a defined key (F7) that switches from HMD to PC monitor and PC mouse. maybe i`ve pressed a wrong key on my keyboard?
i think the problem could be from some hacks, like advanced settings, ovr tools, revive, etc. my computer contains some garbage from deinstalled windows mixed realityand PiTool (pimax glasses)
all other apps/games/experinces are working well. and i have a lot of them installed :-)

i`ve deinstalled: advanced settings, ovr tools, pokerstars vr, steam vr.
i`ve deleted the luckyvr registry tree
reinstalled pokerstars --> same behavior.

i hoped that the last 2 pokerstars update will fix the problem, but it does not.
i am not interesterestd in installing fresh win10 an my machine to test the game and it will not work after this horrible fresh win install. that will cost me a week to install all my daily progs and developement tools and libraries. (esp32 stuff, not VR related)

If you don't start the game from STEAM VR it will give you a black screen with nothing.

Did you download steam vr from steam, installled it then click VR icon top right corner of steam after instal and then go into the vr world of steam (the house on the hill) then star Pokerstar vr from there?

@Jee, its not my first time in VR. i hoped my nick name suggested it... :-) I´ve allredy bought+used 2x valve index complete sets, samsung odyseey+, lenovo explorer, oculus go, oculus quest, oculus rift s, pimax 5k+, hp reverb and the hp reverb G2 is in the pipelilne.
maybe, a tool like ALVR, Riftcat corrupt the pipeline to the HMD.
with virtual desktop (sideload version) pokerstars vr and mini motor x are running tunneled via wifi to the quest.
i have this problem with pokerstars vr(steam version) and mini motor racing x(oculus version) in combination with the valve index. spezially my favo games.
the most other games, i am not intested in, they are running flawlessly.

When i downloaded this game i also had this problem, but other day game runs perfectly fine. I figured out, that main problem is unstable internet connection.

When i download something it goes with maximum speed, but in the same time any website refreshes for ages. In that situation i have this frozen black screen, sometimes with Pokerstars VR logo and when i restart my internet connection so it works fine in both ways (download speed and website refresh rate), Pokerstars works perfectly fine.

Try to check your internet connection if there's any issue. Maybe firewall/antivirus blocking something, or windows sending information and destabilising your connection in some way.

Disable maybe all things that downloading or/and sending data in the background and then try to run Pokerstars.

1.5 years later, still having this problem. I just installed Windows 10 on a brand new dedicated games build that is ONLY running Steam and Steam games, downloaded the game and still have this problem. It works flawlessly on the Quest 2 but on the $1000 Index? No dice.

Would really love to be able to play at the same time as my wife, but apparently this will never be a priority fix for the dev team.

Hi Eagle, yes, that is the issue i'm referring to. It was working fine until maybe 4-5 months ago and now we consistently get this issue.

I tried the fix you suggested and it didn't work. Really bummed as my wife and I liked to play together with family and friends.

Try enabling the microphone in "windows privacy settings"
Fixed the black screen after the loading screen for me. (win 10 at least)

I've also had this problem for nearly a year now. I'm now coming off a fresh Windows 10 install on a blank HD with nearly nothing installed on my machine. Still the same problem, black screen on my Valve Index but I can hear people talking. I can see my avatar on the mirror screen. All my other VR games work fine. I put in a support ticket but they stopped responding after I described my problem.

I am also having this exact issue.

I have tried all the fixes listen.

Game launched, logo is shown, 18+ screen is shown, and then black screen. I can hear sound, players voices, and they can heard me.

Also, if I have the VR window showing on screen it is showing my character in third person but I cannot move.
