mixed reviews?
what happened here? i understand the review count is low, but there's still an odd influx of negative reviews out of nowhere. really odd claims about the music, difficulty, windows 7 compatibility?? also somebody said they were filtered by the anime, but the game wears that on its sleeve. odd place for bait considering only 2 people will look at it. i'm no connoisseur but i think the game is alright: feels like eschatos but with some bells and whistles and completely different pacing with the progression. experimenting with ship customization is fun. eschatos is right there if i wanted a traditional shmup.

I'm pretty sure people who bought this game were expecting Eschatos 2.0 or something when that's not what Ginga Force is about gameplay-wise. It's a much more experimental game that focuses collecting money to upgrade and customize your ship à la Jets'n'Guns or Tyrian to come up with different strategies across the individual stages and be able to maximize your score gains. That isn't to say there are some legitimate issues with the game from what I experienced from the gameplay, sometimes bullets can be hard to see in visually busy scenes that can lead into some cheap deaths and it feels too hard to get through on the Normal difficulty (for new players, I would recommend starting off on Easy as crazy as it sounds, but similarly to SUGURI, the game's Normal difficulty is much harder than it sounds), especially if you're starting from a fresh save file. The lack of a traditional Arcade Mode is also a point of contention for those looking for an arcade-styled shooter. I don't know what these people are complaining about though with music, it's fantastic like Eschatos, and as for Windows 7 compatibility issues, I can't say what these people are experiencing since I have Windows 10 and Valve is more than willing to pull support for Windows 7 already (even the store pages for any game now says that Steam isn't being supported on Windows 7 anymore). Then again, Steam users will be Steam users...

Yeah, I think its just due to a low number of reviews, and the few most recent ones all being negative. Ginga Force is very much not meant to be Eschatos, and people coming from there probably don't like the level-by-level progression with upgrades, rather than a standard arcade run. Kinda a shame that it tanked the review score so badly though since this game is really really good. Not sure what's up with everyone talking about windows 7 though.

If someone is "filtered by the anime" look, it makes you wonder why they bought the game in the first place.
